The Opportunity

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Director of Global Trade Compliance to lead Adobe’s sanctions screening team. The Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and driving Adobe’s end-to-end sanctions screening program, including overseeing Adobe’s use of automated screening solutions. The Director will also support investigations, analysis, and remediation of sanctions risks and/or breaches, oversee training of the screening team, and lead sanctions audit activities. In addition to overseeing day-to-day activities, they will proactively identify emerging regulatory trends and changes and drive continuous process improvements to ensure Adobe’s sanctions screening program adheres industry-leading standards This role will partner closely with Adobe’s trade compliance legal counsel. The role will be based in San Jose and will report to our SVP, Chief Accounting Officer.

What you'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end sanctions screening program and strategy, including ensuring adequate staffing/resources to meet established SLAs.

  • Lead Adobe’s screening team.

  • Develop policies, standards, training, and other procedural or guidance materials for sanctions screening program.

  • Manage screening applications, including screening configurations and sanctions lists.

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes related to trade sanctions, ensuring proper communication and timely implementation of new procedures and/or enhanced due diligence programs.

  • Participate in and coordinate, as appropriate, investigations related to potential trade violations (e.g., Voluntary Self-Disclosures, internal audit, and/or quality control findings).

  • Identify and promptly escalate issues not addressed by current policies and processes, and support the development and implementation of possible solutions.

  • Ensure goal alignment across internal teams involved in Adobe’s sanctions screening program.

  • Responsible for reporting metrics and deriving insights regarding program health and optimization.

  • Drive continuous improvement to increase compliance and efficiency through streamlined processes and automation.

What you need to succeed

  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in sanctions compliance and export controls, including at least 4 years of management experience.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Extensive knowledge of and experience with OFAC, UN, EU, and UK sanctions regimes and US export controls is required. Experience managing the configuration and performance of client and sanction screening applications and alert reviews.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to think strategically about program, anticipate emerging regulatory requirements and challenges, and drive related improvements.

  • Project Management: Proven track record in successfully managing complex programs from initiation to completion. Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and milestone tracking.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, such as lawyers, engineers, and data analysts in improving compliance processes.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, navigating through ambiguity, and adapting to evolving priorities. Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $137,500 -- $287,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.  Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
