Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel's production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. A State Aid Approval procedure for the project is currently pending with the European Commission. According to current planning production at the site is expected to start in four to five years following the European Commission's approval.

We are looking for several senior Process and Equipment Engineering Department Manager for our planned greenfield mega-site in Magdeburg, Germany: a large-scale, multi fab, 3000+ employee operation supporting Intel's internal and foundry wafer supply. This position will report directly to the Intel Vice President for the Magdeburg Site and will lead one of the following departments: Diffusion, Implant, Thin Film, Wet-Etch, Dry, Etch, Metal or Yield.

The Process and equipment Engineering Department Manager owns the project strategy execution for the green field fabs ensuring the start-up/ramp up of the new leading-edge technology for their respective department. They are responsible for all activity coordination to meet the project milestones and timelines. Every Department Manager will lead several Engineering Area Managers and up to 700 indirect reports (engineers and manufacturing technicians) tasked with ongoing process and equipment performance improvement responsibilities.

This is an onsite position at our campus in Magdeburg, Germany and relocation assistance will be provided. Training assignments may be required at other domestic or international locations.

You will be hired into Intel Magdeburg GmbH, spending your training period as a relocation assignment in Ireland and return to Magdeburg as a final placement.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Applying functional areas knowledge (Lithography, Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Planar, Diffusion, EPI/Implant, Thin Films) for manufacturing process steps and skills to understand interactions with incoming and outgoing process modules.

  • Applying technical expertise within Semiconductor processing engineering to provide technical direction on quality, matching performance, and yield improvement issues.

  • Partnering with internal Intel support groups such as Global supply chain and operational corporate services to support and drive the functional areas business needs.

  • Leading Virtual Factory wide improvement initiatives and drive sustainable improvements through robust systems development.

  • Building strong relationships with peers on the Magdeburg Site staff, and with Peers in other Fabs in the world.

  • Accountability for creating positive employee relations and all aspects of safety, quality, output, capability, cost, and productivity within their area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a BSc, MSc or PhD in Engineering or Science (e.g. physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, industrial engineering, data science and/or another engineering/science-related field).

  • Process Engineering, Manufacturing experience or in other related engineering functional areas with a similar scope and function.

  • Fab engineering and/or manufacturing experience would be a bonus.

  • Significant Technology transfer and fab ramp experience with an emphasis on process tool installation and qualification.

  • Significant engineering management experience in large-scale organisation.

  • Substantial strategic planning and management of process and equipment engineering organisation experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills.

  • Fluency in English and in German.

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
