Job Description

Senior Data Engineer

Ring is currently seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help us create the next generation of data-driven services built on Amazon Web Services and open source software. As a crucial member of our team, you will be entrusted with the mission to make data actionable, and collaborate closely with a cross-functional team consisting of engineers, designers, and product managers.

Responsibilities:
- Engage with engineering and business stakeholders to comprehend and fulfill data requirements.
- Propel the expansion of in-house data resources to enhance business intelligence, analytics, and data science.
- Design, model, implement, and manage large, constantly evolving structured and unstructured datasets.
- Perform administration and performance tuning of Relational and NoSQL databases.
- Implement secure and auditable data infrastructure as required.
- Assist with ad hoc data investigations and analyses.
- Instruct users about data capabilities and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Expertise in designing, developing, testing, and deploying high performance data systems and applications.
- Understanding of ETL techniques and streaming data frameworks.
- Proficiency with database systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling and understanding of different data structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience operating production databases in a cloud environment (DynamoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience operating large data warehouses

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
