Job Description:

Position Title: St Vincent’s Hospital Lead Addiction Medicine Specialist
Employment Type: Permanent / maximum term, part time
Hours per week: 0.2 FTE

Salary: As per the award

About the role:
As a member of the Alcohol and Drug Service senior leadership team, the St Vincent’s Hospital Lead Addiction Medicine Specialist position provides senior clinical leadership, supports specialty training, and promotes patient safety and quality across the Service, Drug Health, the Integrated Care Directorate, and the Hospital. The position proactively seeks to drive cross-service and cross-speciality expert care and training within and without the hospital.

Selection Criteria:

  • Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • Possess Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians or other relevant Australasian Specialist College including Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, Addiction Psychiatry certificate;
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Addiction Medicine commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position;
  • If current Fellowship is with another relevant Specialist College, a commitment to gaining the Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine while working with the St Vincents Alcohol and Drug Services;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;
  • Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
