ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:

The Patricia Ritchie Centre is a 12-chair ambulatory care facility providing administration of chemotherapy and supportive care to Medical Oncology/Haematology patients and the provision of clinical trials for Breast Cancer and Melanoma. It is a standalone facility within the grounds of the Mater Hospital, providing exceptional patient care and a supportive environment for staff.

Permanent part-time opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Educator or a senior suitably experienced Registered Nurse looking for a development opportunity, to join the cancer care team within the Patricia Ritchie Centre. This Permanent Part-Time position will allow you to be a leader in safe and quality nursing care through the advancement of evidence-based nursing practice, focusing on person centred care within the philosophy, mission and values of St Vincents Health Australia.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role involves assessing, planning and implementing the educational needs of our small and dynamic team. The role is responsible for ensuring all learning and development activities are met and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Mater Hospital and St Vincents Health Australia (SVHA). The Clinical Nurse Educator will work with the team to ensure all patient care delivered is done so within the relevant staff scope of practice.

ABOUT YOU:

Essential requirements

  • At least 5 years post basic experience, 3 years’ experience in Oncology/Haematology

  • Registered Nurse – current registration

  • Certificate IV TAE or willingness to work towards same

  • Commitment to continued professional development and undertaking further studies as identified as requirements for this position.

  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant specialty area or working towards

  • In-depth knowledge of the Australian National Standards, relevant legislation and best practice

  • Previous educator experience desirable

  • Sound knowledge of Department of Health Guidelines and Regulations, Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and their impact on the delivery of care

Skills/Experience

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to plan and organise a range of training opportunities  

  • Desirable experience with policy writing and review together with analytical problem solving

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, preceptor, mentor and motivate staff

  • Computer literacy – experience with Learning Management Systems is desirable

  • Advanced clinical skills within the field of cancer nursing

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
