About Prague House
A Place for compassion: Prague House is a residential aged care home with 45 private rooms in a unique home-like environment. We care for residents with diverse mental health, behavioural and psychological needs, who often have had a history of homelessness. Our care model is centred around the person, ensuring their ability to make choices in every aspect of their lives is supported. We strive for care that is provided in consultation with each person, eliminating institutional elements to the greatest extent possible.
We are a vital part of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Residential, Palliative Care & Correctional Health Services, a key clinical service program of SVHM and broader SVHA Public Hospital division.
About the Role

As a Housekeeper at Prague House in Kew, you will play an important role in enhancing the dignity and quality of life of our residents with unique behavioural and psychological needs. Here, as part of a collaborative team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a profound impact on their lives by supporting a clean, safe, home-like environment for a diverse group of residents.
The housekeeping services you will provide include:
- Undertaking scheduled daily, weekly and periodic cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping floors, dusting and wiping down surfaces.
- Prepare and serve food and drinks
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve team goals
The classification this position will be PS21 ($55,109 per annum pro rata)
About You
Empathy and Expertise: We are seeking a suitably qualified Housekeeper, preferably with some experience in a healthcare setting. Your unwavering commitment to a person-centred approach will ensure residents’ dignity is maintained and they feel respected, to enhance their overall well-being. With a positive work attitude and engaging manner, you will thrive on the unique and varied needs of our resident population, striving to provide the highest standard of service.
Qualification and Commitment: in addition to your experience, you will need:
- Current Food Safety Certificate Level 1 (Food Handler course) compliant with FSANZ Standard 3.2.2A
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or be willing to undergo same
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work to timelines
- Compassion and understanding for older individuals with complex backgrounds
