Job Description:

The role:

We currently have an exciting and rare opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager with experience in young adult mental health to join our St Vincent’s Hospital Private Team. This role will work in collaboration with Consultant Psychiatrists to lead a vibrant, positive and cohesive team. The role requires Clinical Leadership and Managerial acumen to deliver a model of care that strives for exceptional clinical outcomes. The successful applicant will be pivotal in the strategic management of clinical staff, financial and material resources and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver on activity growth targets.

Our Young Adult Mental Health voluntary inpatient unit (Uspace) has 20 single rooms and a multidisciplinary team who provide comprehensive programs to engage patients in their own mental health care. The Uspace model of care revolves around comprehensive assessment that facilitates patient-centred treatment planning. This includes individual and group interventions, transitioning back to regular care and ongoing monitoring through our day programs and outpatient services. The Nurse Unit Manager role includes the clinical, strategic and financial management of both the inpatient and day program services.

Your skills and experience:

To be successful in the role, you must possess:

  • Minimum five years employment experience in Young Adult Mental Health
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage complex situations involving doctors, patients, family and staff in a professional manner to determine an appropriate course of action
  • High level computer literacy with experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic clinical and administrative applications used by health services
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills with experience in developing high quality business plans, presentations and strategic documentation
  • Have the ability to understand and monitor performance and compliance with agreed key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical risk management frameworks and quality principles and proven ability to apply these in the private hospital setting

Remuneration:

St. Vincent's Private Hospital Sydney Nurses' EA. Nurse Unit Manager Level 3: $68.74 + salary packaging + superannuation, exclusive of shift penalties or allowances.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous Management, Clinical & Leadership experience in Young Adult Mental Health
  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Criminal record and/or child protection checks will be conducted and will form part of the selection criteria for this role
  • Masters in psychiatric/mental health nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program
