A position for a Post-Doctoral Fellow is open in the laboratory of Dr. John Wrangle at MUSC. The successful candidate will assist in the planning and oversight of research projects that utilize a variety of genomic approaches related to the early detection of cancer using a variety of nucleic acid biomarkers. The successful candidate will develop new areas of research, design conduct experiments including methodology and data analysis, write manuscripts and grants, and present at meetings.Entity

- 35%: Manages multiple research projects with minimal supervision, through the stages of planning, conducting experiments, and documentation and write-up of results. Functions as main driver and point of contact in collaborations with other research laboratories.
- 25%: Conducts in-silico experiments to identify genomic patterns of cancer detectable in tissue remote from the tumor.
- 15%: Independently troubleshoots technical problems, such as equipment malfunctions and issues in experimental assays.
- 10%: Develops new research directions in the field of early detection.
- 10%: Writes grants and manuscripts and submits for publication.
- 5%: Assists in the supervision and training of new lab members.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Recent PhD in biotechnology, biomedical engineering or related field
- 1-2 years of postdoctoral experience
- Track record of independent productive research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong foundation in epigenetics, next-gen sequencing, and nucleic acid processing is highly desirable.
