About the Role:
Exciting Nursing Opportunities in Acute Surgical Ward at St Vincent's Hospital
As a Enrolled Nurse in our Surgical Stream, you will play a crucial role in caring for patients across a diverse range of surgical specialties. This includes our newly developed short stay surgical unit, as well as the surgical wards catering to patients post-operative care following elective and emergency surgical procedures, and those admitted from the Intensive Care Unit after complex surgery and trauma. Patient safety and providing high levels of care are at the forefront of our mission, and we are looking for dedicated nurses to help us achieve this.
Short Stay Surgical Unit:
The new short stay unit presents an exciting opportunity to support patients undergoing elective surgeries. As an Enrolled nurse in this unit, you will lead the discharge process, ensuring patients are well-informed and receive the utmost care. Collaborating closely with medical teams and Hospital in the Home teams, you will contribute to non-urgent follow-up care in the community. By being part of this innovative model, you will have the chance to provide feedback and actively contribute to improving nursing care processes.

Selection Criteria:
• Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
• Currently registered as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
• Demonstrated ability to work within the interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
• Demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment
• Demonstrated customer service and patient centered approach to care
