Job Description:

Position Title: Allied Health Assistant

Employment Type: Part Time, Maximum Term (6 month contract with the view for extension)

Hours per week: 32 hours

Position Grade: Technical Assistant Grade 1 (Year 1 - 3)

Salary: $58,691.80 to $61,073.75 (pro-rata) base per annum

Enterprise Agreement: The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Health Employees Agreement 2019

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic growing team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Transitional Aged Care Program. The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works with a large multidisciplinary team to provide slow stream rehabilitation to clients who have recently discharged from hospital. Also provides assistance with personal care, light domestic duties, and health monitoring and therapeutic support to clients of the program to maximise improvement in their functional abilities.

This role is supervised by Senior Allied Health staff within the Transitional Aged Care program to ensure high quality care. This position is a Monday- Friday, with the occasional weekend or public holiday required.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

2. Relevant Certificate III qualification or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer or where they have been successfully assessed as possessing the competencies required for Certificate III by way of Recognition of Prior Learning.

3. Current unrestricted NSW drivers license – Class C or above

4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with a range of people

5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) as delegated by the supervising Allied Health Professional

6. Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications

7. Demonstrated experience working with older people in a community/rehabilitation setting.
