About the Role

The Waiting List Officer is accountable for the management of patients on the Elective Surgery Waiting List from a clerical perspective within the guidelines of the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy and across the entire continuum of care from placement on the waiting list to day of surgery. 

  • Receive and process waiting list forms from specialist clinics, private rooms and other areas of SVHM within stipulated time frame as per DHHS Elective Surgery Access Policy

  • Accurately create, record and update  the Waiting List Screen on Patient Administration System (PAS) as required

  • Ensure all queries from patients and clinicians pertaining to clinical management are forwarded to Surgical Liaison Nurse

  • Monitor Category 1 patients to ensure they are admitted within 30 days

  • Monitor Category 2 and 3 patients to ensure timely access to surgery within category timeframe

Classifications for this position will be HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

  • Relevant experience in administration in a healthcare role

  • Experience with patient administration systems

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

About Elective Surgery
The Elective Surgery Management Team (ESMT) coordinates and case manages patients that are on the St Vincent’s Hospital elective surgery waiting list in accordance with the elective surgery waiting list policy and the Department of Health Elective Surgery Access Policy. The ESMT is responsible for the case management all patients across the surgical specialties at SVHM.
