About the Role

In this role you will be responsible for responsible for the development of clinical practice for all nurses working within cardiac services, including those within structured programs such as pre-registration placements, graduate nurse programs, pathway to specialty practice and postgraduate nursing programs. 

The PDN will ensure best practice by providing ongoing education and support for all nursing staff achieved by implementing clinically-based education using the principles of Evidenced Based Practice to improve the delivery of nursing care. Furthermore, they will be responsible for their own professional development in order to maintain expert clinical skills and advanced knowledge.

The position maybe based at any of the St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne sites and requires staff to undertake home visiting duties.

Classifications for this position will range will be YZ7 ($113,646.00 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

• Registered in Division 1 with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board and current Practicing Certificate

• Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Nursing (Entry to Practice)

• Postgraduate Qualifications in relevant nursing speciality (e.g. Cardiac or Critical Care) preferably a Masters in Advanced Nursing or working towards.

• Postgraduate qualification in Education, Clinical Supervision or similar (or working towards)

• Experience in development, delivery and coordination of Nursing Education Programs.

About Education and Learning

St Vincent’s provides extensive Education and Learning support and services to staff and students across the health service. The educational team members are based across multiple campuses including Fitzroy, St George’s Hospital Kew, St Vincent’s on the Park East Melbourne, Caritas Christi Hospice Kew and Port Phillip Prison. This position will primarily be based at St Vincent’s campus in Fitzroy with the expectation of travel to other campuses and health services as required.
