Job Description:

Position Title: Social Worker
Employment Type: Maximum term until 11 September 2024
Hours per week: 24 hours per week
Position Grade: Social Worker Level 1-2 (Year 1 - 4)
Salary: $70,944.00 - $101,211.00 base per annum
Enterprise Agreement: The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations' Professional & Associated Staff Agreement 2022

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Social Work Department. The successful applicant for the Social Worker Level 1 – Level 2 position will be expected to be responsible for the provision of a social work service to patients / clients and their families, liaison with other health care professionals within St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney and with external agencies in the areas of allocation. Clinically the areas of Immunology, Infectious Diseases and HIV as well as Renal Medicine for both inpatients and outpatients will be a primary allocation but with a need for flexibility to work according to clinical demand and priority. The role will be part time and for a maximum term backfilling parental leave.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Social Worker who possesses a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are committed to high quality social work practice and the values of our organisation and the social work profession . This role will require ability to work with marginalised populations with complex psychosocial needs, contributing to discharge planning, advocacy regarding NDIS, NCAT: Guardianship, ACAT and My Aged Care and providing clinical cover for colleagues as required. You will also be providing consultation to team members and education for patients and staff as required.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Degree in Social Work and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with evidence of clinical experience in a tertiary hospital or health related field as a practising Social Worker.
3.  Demonstrated clinical skills and knowledge in psychosocial assessment, counselling, therapy interventions, case management, advocacy and discharge planning. 
4.  Knowledge in one or more specialties  of clinical immunology, infectious diseases, viral hepatitis and HIV infection, both within an inpatient and outpatient setting. 
5.  Demonstrated experience and ability to work as a member of multidisciplinary teams in a high pressure environment with competing demands with sound negotiation and liaison skills. 
6.  Well-developed time management, prioritisation, computer, written and verbal communication skills. 
7.   Ability to contribute to research projects, quality improvement and education activities within the designated specialties and social work services.
8.  Ability to participate in an extended hours on call service
