Site HSE Coordinator

  • Virginia, Brisbane
  • 12-month contract with a view to a permanent role
  • Onsite daily is required for this role

The Position:

You will be a specialist in end-to-end, working with the Manufacturing & Supply HSE Manager and the Senior Leadership Team to continually improve site safety, environmental protection, hygiene and compliance within Sanofi Consumer Healthcare.

Our Team:

The Virginia site HSE team is small, friendly, and supportive. The role encompasses all aspects of worker health, safety and environmental responsibility.

The site has a mature proactive safety and environmental culture which is supported at all levels.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and review of initiatives to support the short and long-term requirements of the business, meeting company goals regarding employee health, safety, and environmental

  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of strategies, programs and training that ensure safe working practices and a mature proactive safety culture

  • Monitor practices and policies to ensure compliance with legal regulations, industry guidelines, best practice, company policies and procedures

  • Assist in building organisation capability by participating in and actively promoting an exceptional safety culture

  • Support the development of HSE policies and programs, and provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace

  • Participate in risk assessments, gap analysis and action plan programs for people, materials, processes, environment and equipment

  • Educate employees and contractors by coordinating and conducting training in HSE standards, policies and major risks

  • Engage with Managers and employees in inspections, audits, safety visits, hazard assessment and incident investigations

  • Involvement in investigating and delivering waste disposal and energy reduction strategies

  • Review of area Work Instructions / SOPs, ensuring adequate risk-assessments have been completed prior to publishing, and agree to Sanofi internal standards

  • Coordination and attendance at Area Safety Meetings with Managers and area Health & Safety Reps

  • Assist with the coordination of Emergency Response requirements

  • Coordination and involvement in employee Occupational Health and Hygiene Programs

  • Ensure timely reporting of safety and environmental statistics

Cooperate with Management to:

  • Provide and maintain systems of work and working environments that are safe and without risks to health.

  • Provide the information, instruction, training and supervision necessary to ensure the health and safety of employees.

  • Consult with employees about OHS matters so that they can contribute to decisions affecting their health, safety and welfare.

  • Ensure the health and safety of people visiting or working who are not employees by not exposing them to risk.

  • Comply with corporate and legal health and safety requirements.

  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions or behaviours and immediately notify the Manager of any serious incidents; complete and Incident / Injury Report and forward to Human Resources within 48 hours where necessary.

  • Undertake duties in accordance with the current Sanofi Policies, Procedures and Standards.

About you & Key Criteria for the role:

Education:

  • Cert IV in Health & Safety, Environment or Industry Technical Qualification

  • Nice to have: First Aid Training certificates and Emergency response

Experience & Knowledge:

  • WHS requirements and legislation, HSE systems

  • Experience in a large-scale organisation- Open to Industry

Plus experience in any of the following would be beneficial:

  • Manufacturing / Packaging / Warehousing / Engineering / Chemical / Environmental / Documentation / Training / Auditing / Rehabilitation & Return to Work process

Soft skills:

  • Embraces change- Thrive off an agile and constantly changing environment

  • A people-person, empathetic and able to manage multiple stakeholders at all levels

  • Attention to detail and communication

  • Love of learning. Interested in continuously developing and gaining new skills!

Technical skills:

  • Strong researching skills, problem solving, decision making, analytical and written skills

Languages: English
