Job Description Summary

MUSC Facilities Response Center (FRC) is an integrated 24 x 7 facilities command center that is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of service related to engineering and critical operations support. Serves as operations cent for a portfolio of facilities which include hospitals, university buildings, research centers and ambulatory locations. The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Operator provides a high level of expertise to a diverse team. The BAS Operator will be able to provide support in all operations and monitoring for the Building Automation and Smart Systems technology.

Job Description

* Arrive to work on time and ready to accomplish assigned tasking and maintain a constant professional image in all job activities and functions.

* Operate, maintain and trend the Building Automation Systems (BAS) for local and statewide sites which can include: HVAC, Lighting, Utility services, Fire Alarm systems, Weather, miscellaneous equipment statuses, etc.

* Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Automation Systems, providing direction, identify patterns, trends, and issues based on specific data collected from monitoring alarms from various systems and reporting to the shift lead.

* Contribute to corporate communication if "incidents" occur during shifts; providing timely updates as information is received under direction of the shift lead.

* Contact on-call personnel for alarms and actions, working directly with other operational leaders and the Facilities Unit Leader (FUL) as needed.

* Corresponds directly with requestors, by electronic or telephone communications, to service inquiries promptly and with a high level of customer service.

* Generate, dispatch, and close out service requests as necessary from the CMMS queue and provides coordination of services through multiple service providers to maintain the integrity and efficiency of building systems and comfort to the building occupants.

* Produces clear and professional email correspondence to our customers and facilities management teams with comprehensible summaries of facilities issues.

* Functions in a proactive and predictive manner to identify building problems prior to escalation to building availability incidents.

* Performs coordination duties for high level building incidents that potentially could impair the occupancy of a building.

* Notify the FUL of all building incidents and assist in gathering information that may be critical to conduct root cause analysis following each occurrence.

REQUIREMENTS

* Technical knowledge of building design and system operations

* Strong computer competency with the ability to quickly become proficient in new software packages

* Customer Service experience required

* Understanding and utilization of professional Phone Etiquette skills

* Experience managing professional email correspondence

* Experience dispatching, coordinating, and corresponding with multiple maintenance activities

* 3+ years of experience with CMMS applications

* Certification from a professional facilities management association (Plus)

IMPORTANT EDUCATION

* High School Diploma or Equivalent required

* Building Automation Operator or HVAC Technical Experience preferred

* Some College or Vocational Training in, Facilities Management or HVAC Systems beneficial

IMPORTANT EXPERIENCE

* Command or Call Center Experience

* Understanding and Supporting Diversity in the Workplace

* Microsoft Office experience is required, strong computer competency with the ability to quickly become proficient in new software packages. Understanding of applicable web-based applications and software and ability to apply new technologies as they develop.

* Strong understanding of day-to-day operations of facilities maintenance and management

* Self-starter with strong time management, teamwork, and creative thinking skills

* Demonstrates attention to detail and can perform basic error free analyses efficiently

* Team player who works well with others in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

* Possess technical domain knowledge

* Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex business documents

* Deep understanding of CMMS facilities management systems

* Deep understanding of Building Automation and Monitoring Systems

* Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
