Job Description Summary

The Education Manager is responsible for planning and coordination of educational opportunities for the Midlands Division staff and any affiliated facilities or services, including annual life safety training, nursing orientation, supervisory management training, maintaining education records, and developing competencies.  This role will serve as the primary liaison for the department. Manages and influences relationships with senior management team, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best in practice performance and business results.

Entity/Organization:  MUHA (Medical University Hospital Authority/Medical Center)

Hours Per Week: 40  

FSLA Status : Salaried

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift:  Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00 pm.

Job Summary: The Education Manager is responsible for planning and coordination of educational opportunities for the Midlands Division staff and any affiliated facilities or services, including annual life safety training, nursing orientation, supervisory management training, maintaining education records, and developing competencies.  This role will serve as the primary liaison for the department. Manages and influences relationships with senior management team, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best in practice performance and business results.

The Manager of Education will maintain relationships with local colleges and universities, as well as facilitate student clinical rotations. The Education Department does not participate in any medical staff education other than life safety training such as ACLS or PALS.

Manages the analysis, planning, implementation, and expenditures and budget tracking of major operational projects or initiatives within the Education Department. Provides recommendations to the leaders throughout the organization. Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of clinical education across the division. Collaborates with department/business unit leadership to support training and education goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Developing, and disseminating information and training regarding hospital policies and procedures.

Experience/Education: Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 7 years progressive work experience and 2 years management experience.

Licensure: Must have a RN licensure in the state of South Carolina. Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred.

Certifications: BLS mandatory.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
