What this job involves – The Critical Facility Electrical Engineer will be performing preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as studying building automation and fire/life safety systems to ensure their proper functionality. The engineer conducts facility inspections, identifies conditions that may impact operations, and adheres to strict safety procedures to maintain a secure and compliant environment.

What is your day to day?  

• Electrical Systems Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems within the data center facility. This includes electrical distribution equipment, UPS systems, generators, switchgears, transformers, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, malfunctions, and failures in a timely manner. Implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime and ensure the continuous and reliable operation of electrical systems.
• Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations such as power outages, electrical failures, or safety incidents promptly and efficiently. Take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, restore power, and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
• Preventive Maintenance Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all electrical equipment and systems. Conduct regular inspections, testing, and calibration to identify potential issues and address them proactively to prevent failures or disruptions.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and tests. Generate reports and documentation as required for compliance, tracking, and historical reference purposes. Collaborate with the team to ensure proper documentation and knowledge sharing

Desired Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

• Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering, with a strong background in electrical systems and maintenance
• Knowledge of overall electrical system design and applications

Preferred:

• Prior experience working within a data center environment is a plus
• Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems or other skilled trades
