Senior Director, Engineering Services (SDES)

The Senior Director, Engineering Services is responsible for managing the high standard of building performance and operational services in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing, Building Management Systems, and technical infrastructure elements required across the client’s portfolio. The SDES is expected to quickly assess the quality of the programs in place, work to integrate IFM and Technical services into a cohesive team, in order to optimize overall facility performance and meet the client's goals. This role is directly focused on engineering, IFM and technical operations for a leading technology client. Uptime, occupant comfort, sustainability, organizational effectiveness, business continuity, building equipment maintenance and life cycle asset management, and Environmental Health and Safety are all under the direction of the SDES.

The SDES will familiarize themselves with the Client’s sustainability strategy to actively manage the energy and building performance to deliver optimized energy efficiencies and provide reporting that demonstrates compliance and achievements toward the client’s 2030 goals. The SDES must have experience in delivering engineering excellence through robust asset management and quality frameworks (applicable ISO standards) and be responsible for the development of engineering policies, strategies and implementation plans that meet the client’s rapidly shifting needs. Developing strong and long-lasting working relationships with team members, working across our FM, Project Management, Lab, and Support teams is critical. Establishing those same trusting, positive relationships with the client stakeholders is equally important. Such relationships can best be established through “getting stuff done”: developing clear implementation plans for operational initiatives and seeing them through to execution.  Doing so, and operating an effective Engineering Services organization, will enable the team to meet and exceed demanding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Achieving KPIs allows the team to achieve increased revenue and margin.

What this job involves

Operational/ Technical / IFM

  • Direct and manage the energy and sustainability teams by maximizing the capability of existing technology and systems and use of SMART building systems, platforms, and data to ensure that Client’s assets are being operated at optimum performance and energy is being closely managed and reported on.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaboration with the Integrated Facility Management team, working together to optimize overall facility performance and achieve the client's objectives.
  • Effectively manage strategic vendor relationships, ensuring service provider compliance with IFM standards and driving operational improvements.
  • Implement sustainable practices and initiatives across facility operations to align with the client's sustainability strategy and meet their environmental goals.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Facility Management team to leverage SMART building technologies and data analytics, maximizing energy efficiency and operational performance.
  • Act as the lead point of contact (LPOC) for all internal service delivery teams. Coordinate all transactional activities whilst continually developing and maintaining exceptional relationships with all key stakeholders.
  • Assist in collating, measuring, and analyzing building data required to maintain compliance with building related rules and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice to support the client’s business. As SDES, you will play a key role in providing the client with industry expertise, best practices, and guidance based on your strong knowledge and experience within the industry. Such guidance will be pragmatic and executable.
  • Excellent report writing and communications skills are required.
  • The ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues is essential.

Interested? An ideal candidate would need to have the following qualifications.

Desired experience and technical skills

  • Extensive mechanical, electrical BEMS and SMART buildings services knowledge
  • IFM
  • Proven ability to quickly assess a team’s capabilities, and develop an effective organization, that can self-perform work, and demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that buildings are being operated at optimum performance and energy is being closely managed and reported on
  • Maximize energy efficiency, create, and oversee the implementation of short and long-term projects and strategies that increase energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and minimize unnecessary consumption
  • Develop and implement procedures, standards, and guides for building performance and operational excellence
  • Effectively manage the critical service provider relationships, their contract performance, driving operational improvements; ensuring work output is in line with contractual obligations
  • Meet daily with the Technical Services team to align and review performance, setting priorities for the day, focused on KPIs and quality work.
  • Manage to budget: ensuring staffing and contracts fit within our budget envelope, and seek ways to improve customer service and reduce expenditure
  • Identify and capture operational data to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service value, performance, and excellence
  • Lead by example to represent the brand values of teamwork, ethics, and excellent to deliver set objectives
  • Play a lead role in ensuring safety and sustainability are at the heart of Technical Services vision by way of social and corporate responsibility activities.
  • Be comfortable with statutory compliance, health and safety risk management and any sustainability requirements
  • Preferred educational and work experience:
    • Professionally registered (IEng or CEng) or working towards this
    • Degree in Building Service Engineering or relevant engineering subject
    • Equivalent minimum 10 years’ experience at technical engineering leadership level.
    • OSHA certified
    • Proven track record of technical problem solving
    • Ability to communicate technical subject to non-technical customers and team members
    • Ability to produce technical reports.

Estimated compensation for this position is:

203,000.00 – 302,000.00 USD

The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
