Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Independently performs a variety of complex procedures required to harvest/collect store and transplant human peripheral blood stem cells and bone marrow as part of the Division Hematology and Cellular Therapy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs skilled apheresis procedures on patients as prescribed by physicians. Collects peripheral stem cells according to defined SOPs and regulatory agencies (FDA, CAP, FACT). (30%)
  • Performs complex analysis on clinical stem cell products to assure integrity of the product. (10%)
  • Processes product for infusion or storage in accordance with laboratory SOP, government regulatory agencies (FDA), CAP and FACT. (20%)
  • Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation to assure patient safety and/or accurate analysis. Recognizes and rectifies aberrant function through the use of quality control assessment to assure quality outcome. (10%)
  • Performs stem cell transplants as prescribed by physician in accordance with SOP and governmental mandates, assuring required identification and patient/donor confidentiality. (10%)
  • Maintain accurate product inventory records through StemLab. Maintain required organization and documentation. (10%)
  • Pursues CME as appropriate to Cellular Therapy. Acts as a consultant to other health care providers. (10%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 5 years of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree.

Preferred

  • ASCP certification
  • Experience in Blood and Marrow processing or Blood Bank
