About us: 

The Procurement operations team is responsible for managing key suppliers across a wide range of sectors and through disciplines such as machining and fabricating, ensuring full management of both capability and capacity of our suppliers. You will therefore play a key role contributing to Airbus’ success and helping shape its future.

 Around 80% of Airbus’ activity is sourced from an external supplier. Working with more than 12,000 suppliers worldwide that provide products and services for flying and non-flying parts, joining the Procurement operations team will put you at the heart of Airbus where you will operate in a truly international environment. Airbus Procurement operations function is diverse in its activities, from supporting our sustainable aviation ambitions to managing supplier quality and delivery issues.

Airbus UK design, manufacture and manage the Supply Chain for Wings, Landing Gear and Fuel Systems on all Airbus Commercial Aircraft. Wing manufacture is performed at the world class Broughton & Filton Production facility whilst design and supply chain management is based in Filton, Bristol. Components and parts are delivered from a supply chain spanning the globe.

This supply chain is managed from the UK, and delivers into the Airbus Wing manufacturing plant in Broughton & Filton as well as directly into Airbus’ Final Assembly Lines located in France, Germany, Spain, USA, Canada and China.

This internship offers you experience of the exciting challenges and opportunities that only working within  Procurement Operations can provide, focusing on: 

  • Supply Management of quality, time and cost;
  • Control Supplier, ensuring our flyable products continuously meet our Airbus Supplier's Requirements;
  • Supplier Development where we anticipate complex issues, mitigate risks and develop supplier's capabilities.

What you will be doing: 

Your role will be varied, developing your skills in all elements of supplier management, negotiation and Supplier Development all whilst working with a diverse range of stakeholders from across the business, as well as Airbus suppliers. Working with experienced Supply Chain and Quality Managers as well as senior management, you will be given responsibilities and objectives that will challenge you and offer experiences to grow your career and knowledge of procurement.

Throughout the internship you will be given real projects to work on and contribute towards. Whilst every placement will be unique some of the activities you could be involved with include supporting suppliers with analysis of quality issues to devise a new product strategy for business projects. 

In addition to your work there are opportunities to join a wide variety of employee networks including a dedicated Early Careers network, Generation Airbus, Pride@Airbus, Balance for Business, Breathe and embRACE to help you develop both your professional and personal skills along the way. You will also be supported by like minded apprentices, other Early Careers and members of senior management.
 

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

We are looking for curious and driven individuals with a desire to launch their career in Procurement, and build an understanding of the wider Airbus business. No previous procurement/supply chain experience is required. Some of the key skills we are looking for are:

  • Studying towards a degree in Supply Chain, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Logistics;
  • Interest in Aircraft is a must;
  • IT skills (Excel/Google Suite);
  • Comfortable communicating with a wide range of people;
  • Collaborates well within and beyond your placement teams; 
  • Proactive in your approach;
  • Good organisation and time management;
  • An attention to detail;
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in our business language (English). 

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
