LOCATION: Filton (Typically 3 days a week in the office, 2 days remote)

A vacancy has arisen in the UK within the Legal Affairs - Commercial Operations and Finance team for a Legal Counsel who will support General Procurement (non-flying parts), Direct Procurement (flying parts), Services and Digital. There will also be opportunities to work on projects in support of the activities of Airbus Operations Limited as well as providing UK law advice to parent and sister companies and colleagues abroad, as required.

You will work with one other lawyer in the UK as well as the wider team of approximately 120 lawyers across the world. You will be required to understand our internal customers’ strategy, business objectives and risk tolerance in order to provide clear, consistent, high-quality and timely legal support.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on a broad variety of contracts, projects and transactions

• Contributing to the reduction of legal risks in Airbus by analyzing such risks, advising on mitigation and/or providing solutions, and briefing internal clients to enable them to make well-informed decisions

• Where necessary, liaising with other teams within Airbus Legal and Compliance such as Anti-trust, Intellectual Property, Litigation, Data Protection, Compliance etc. and other departments such as Finance, Services, Digital and Procurement

• Ensuring that the Country Manager UK, the Legal Business Leaders for General and Direct Procurement, Services and Digital and internal customers are informed of any potential risks and liability issues

• Proactively supporting pre-contentious or contentious situations e.g. claims, insolvency / bankruptcy, dispute resolution and settlement agreements, where necessary in coordination with other departments such as litigation

• Ensuring efficient use of external legal advice where needed, within agreed budgets

• Supporting the implementation of best practice and the harmonisation of processes and practices, and contributing to team projects such as the improvement and standardisation of documents within Legal, Services, Digital and Procurement

• Providing legal training on contractual and legal matters to internal customers and legal colleagues

• Participating in the cross divisional One Roof UK meetings and UK legal training sessions

ABOUT YOU

• You will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister in English Law with a current practising certificate and a good amount of post qualification experience in house (ideally in an international company) and/or in a law firm

• Experience in contract and commercial law.  A good knowledge of some or all of the following will be required: insolvency proceedings, intellectual property law, disputes, pre-litigation, litigation, corporate law, real estate law and UK Government contracting
