COMPLETE Head of Engineering Quality - Bangalore Area

Job Description:

Head of Quality – Engineering reports to Head of Engineering within Airbus India Engineering.

Accountabilities

The jobholder will be accountable for 

• The job-holder manages cross-discipline teams of quality managers and senior professionals and  provide significant direction to the quality strategy

• The job-holder has accountability for performance and results of multiple,  related units

• Disciplinary, functional and lateral (stakeholder mgt., multi-functional/transnational teams) leadership of large and / or transnational teams. Guiding, motivating and developing subordinate staff; implementation of a high performance culture in the sphere of impact

• Planning, agreement, monitoring and reporting of required resources to accomplish the delegated work (e.g. budget(s), services, equipment), continuous improvement of work processes in the designated area

• Risk management activities, especially the regular and exhaustive identification, evaluation, mitigation and reporting of risks

• Management of the relationship with suppliers and/or customers

• Accomplishment of business activities in line with all relevant internal and external regulations/ legislation; escalation of occurring compliance issues to the superior or to higher level functions

• Achievement of mid to long-term business objectives; definition of objectives for subordinate staff; active performance management, especially prompting decision making

• Identification and realization of potential improvement and change requirements in accordance with the superior; challenge the status quo for practical improvement and simplification.

• Accountable for quality of deliverables in the engineering domain.

• Accountable for DOA monitoring in Airbus India Engineering inline with Airbus DOA strategy

Responsibilities

The jobholder will be responsible for the following:

• Ensures adequate competences and resources for carrying out the quality of the deliveries

• Ensuring the Engineering Quality Management Systems Architecture for Engineering via application of Quality Standards. Improvement & evolution, development and deployment Quality Standards (e.g. PPS, DFMEA, KC-CTI, link to PFMEA).

• Ensure Supplier development and recovery in close collaboration with Engineering departments. Perform assessment, development, improvements and monitoring of suppliers, using a variety of Airbus standardized tools and techniques

• Ensures smooth business operations, e.g. competence and resource management, effort estimation, budget, resource utilization, invoicing, risks and opportunities etc.

• Proactive in recognizing areas to collaborate, support and/or for value addition at Airbus Group and AI1 level

• Ensures that the surveillance activities like internal/external audits are adequately planned and the Non conformities are resolved 

• Build and maintain healthy relationship with all stakeholders

• Responsible for People Tempo in her / his perimeter

• Ensure competence retention and development to meet the present and future deliverables 

• Responsible for consequential management within their perimeter

• Responsible for collaborative culture among team members

• Contribute to and/or implement organization vision and strategies 

• Contribute in implementation of company policies

• Define the means to deliver agreed targets

• Align with the Head of Engineering of AI1 and Ho CoC from the three divisions of Airbus Group to achieve yearly AOP for the respective department.

• Provide the collaboration means to the team members with other teams, departments and functions

• Contribute in implementation of Airbus India Engineering vision in her / his perimeter

• Ensure effective  communication in both direction of hierarchy

• Ensures the implementation of DOA Manager(Design Assurance Nominee) responsibilities given below within Airbus India Engineering

  • To develop the independent monitoring within the Airbus India engineering including the establishment of the DOA Scorecard covering all DOA deliverables of AI1.

  • To represent AI1 in Airbus Design Assurance Team (DAT) meetings whenever requested and interface with EASA as required,

  • To act as the focal point, the advisor and the expert of the Design Assurance activities carried out throughout AI1,

  • To ensure the communication of all changes related to the DOA to the AI1 community.

  • To participate in improvement initiatives within Airbus for DOA independent monitoring.

  • To support DOA training for all engineering staff with DOA delegation

Qualification of Job-holder 

• The job requires decision-making capability, skills for synthesis and ability to communicate in a strongly multi-cultural environment.

• The job requires travel as necessary and related to business needs.

• The job holder will need to work in flexible manner as per the business needs

• Should have an Engineering quality background with good experience to manage small to midsize teams and stakeholders.
