Your Role

As a member of our growing Cloud Engineering team, your responsibility is the day to day development and continuous enhancement of the Airbus Digital Platform as a Service (PaaS) 

and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layer to meet the demands of our business. The PaaS layer offers business projects across all program lines the vital building blocks they need to create new solutions for either new business services or increasing operational excellence. To be successful, you must have an automation-first mindset and deep expert knowledge in core technical domains of our platform (Cloud, Devops, Big Data, API Management, Application development and splunk ) as well as sound knowledge in one of the other areas. In your role, you are part of a scrum development team and build services jointly with members of other disciplines.

 

Your Responsibilities/Tasks

 

• Implement new Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) elements defined by the platform architecture team.

• Deploy and maintain production system in Cloud build and maintain CI/CD pipelines Build/Maintain alerting and monitoring services. 

• Understanding architectures to effectively design secure and scalable services and collaborate with team to build and improve features

• Expertise in at least one programming language

• Code writing skills for serverless applications

• Ensure a smooth transition into operations to meet expected SLAs. 

• Improve existing IaaS/PaaS elements based on customer feedback, market trends, and runtime information.

• Continuously increase the automation level and resilience of the IaaS/PaaS layer, i.e. in terms of self-healing capabilities and zero-touch deployment. 

• Harden the IaaS/PaaS layer continuously against evolving threats in close collaboration with the security team.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer  with strong knowledge of splunk. Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing startup environment

Proficiency in the following areas:

• Certified as an AWS Solutions Architect. (Other cloud-related certifications are also a plus.)

• Strong foundation in programming , algorithms and logic building.

• Experience with cloud-based services, preferably AWS.

• Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Microsoft Azure.

• Knowledge of web services, API, REST, Load balances and monitoring services.

• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP ,subnetting, routing, VPC / VNet, security groups  etc.).

• Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL ( dynamodb ), and related data stores such as Postgres.

• Good knowledge of CI/CD pipeline. Must be able to automate deployment of solutions on cloud (AWS/Azure). 

• Good knowledge of Cloud formation templates and terraform /ARM templates.

• Azure knowledge/experience  is plus .

• Experience building solutions with a microservices architecture

• Experience building and maintaining REST APIs

• Good knowledge of designing solutions considering cost optimisation and security. 

• Strong knowledge of AWS services ( Lambda / Serverless, Load balancer , Domain configuration - Route 53  and monitoring services)

• Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required

Additionally good to have skill sets in the following areas below

• Databases (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, …)

• Develop, configure and administer Splunk content, Integrate data feeds (logs) into Splunk..

• Experience with Splunk search and reporting

• Basic knowledge of application networking and troubleshooting

• Basics of Docker / Kubernetes

• Experience in security engineering, incident response, and/or penetration testing is plus . 

• Basics of Azure cloud

• Good conceptual knowledge on the following areas:

• Cloud Services

• Devops 

• Experience in agile project methodologies, optimally SCRUM are a plus

• Work experience in areas such as telecommunications and/or a massively cloud-driven business (cloud provider, social networks, search engines, …) is a major plus.
