Background

Airbus has set-up Regional Sourcing Offices (RSO) with Sourcing Offices in Strategic Countries with the objective to further improve Airbus Group sourcing footprint in these countries.

The mission of the RSO involves:

  • Acting as an agent of change, to drive Airbus sourcing in strategic countries including the industrial & offset scope.
  • Supporting Airbus Business Units in Aerostructure, Materials, System & Equipment, and Propulsion & Cabin sourcing from India.
  • Supporting Airbus Business Units in formulating consolidated global sourcing & offset targets.

Airbus signed on 24 SEP 2021 a contract with Ministry of Defence for delivering 56 C295 aircraft. As part of this contract Airbus has committed to manufacture & assemble the aircraft through an industrial partner along with offset obligations.

Roles & Responsibilities

The role of the selected candidate will encompass following key areas:

Support to Define Procurement Commodity Strategy

Support & then manage activities like Collect Needs & Preparing Tendering (CFT), Manage Tendering & Contract Supplier (Supplier Shortlist & Selection), Manage Contracts & Claims by supporting global commodity in negotiation processes, Order & Receive Product / Service (Inc. Payment & Offset Credit)

For Strategy : Identify and develop strong capable suppliers in India with respect to identified Airbus needs, support new suppliers in understanding Airbus contractual and commercial needs and also work closely with Supplier Development Team to improve overall maturity level of suppliers.

Support to Defence Programmes in Country: Provide support to Airbus MFT by:

Carrying out capability gap assessments with respect to project needs & developing mitigation plan for identified gaps Managing supplier relationship with IPA (Indian Production Agency) & other suppliers with respect to offsets & industrial scope Support in supply chain risk analysis with respect to project needs Support activities related to Logistics & Transport and Customs & Export License Management Provide unique understanding of needs of key stakeholders (MoD, SHQs, OEMs, Industry Associations, Indian Cos and ecosystem) of Indian Aerospace and Defence Industry across value chain (Engineering, Manufacturing and After Sales). Able to leverage a good network with key OEMs and SHQs, apply deep understanding of policy framework with DOMW & MoD. Provided consultancy to discharge Offset which protects the IP of OEM, results in huge cost savings & help meet MAKE in India vision of Indigenization. Drive with OEMs and propose solutions, which helps them to discharge offset. Drive & Support interactions with MoD, A&D PSUs, Foreign OEMs, Industry Associations (CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM) for Defence programmes. Develop offset projects in accordance with the customer's strategic vision.

Expected Profile

  • Overall experience of 4-7 years in Procurement, Supply Chain or Business Development Domain in a manufacturing industry with good knowledge about sourcing, supplier evaluation, contracting, costing and commercial negotiation.
  • The person should be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision under ambiguous situations.
  • The person should have worked in a multicultural environment and have experience in dealing with customers/counterparts in Europe.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in Aerostructure, Materials like machining, sheet metal, Casting and Forging, surface processing & composites and System & Equipment – Customer Services, Training, MRO, Avionics etc will be an added advantage.
  • Aerospace industry knowledge is an advantage but not mandatory.

Travel: 30-50%

Education: Engineering graduate from a leading Engineering College, Master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory
