The Director, Market Insights role will play a pivotal role as a strategic advisor, working across all therapy areas and products within CSL Behring's US portfolio. Primary objective of this role is to support critical strategic initiatives and address key questions vital to the success of CSL Behring's commercial operations in the US. This role involves conducting comprehensive primary and secondary market research, as well as competitive intelligence analysis.

In this capacity, the incumbent will lead a small team tasked with exploring and providing answers to crucial business inquiries. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for presenting their research findings and delivering recommendations to both the Brand team and Senior Leadership. Although the role primarily focuses on the US market, it also entails active collaboration with various cross-functional groups including Global teams in supporting both inline and pipeline products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of primary research plan for providers and patients including brand/market research (e.g. attitudinal segmentation, patient journeys, quantitative awareness & usage etc.) across the US portfolio
  • Design, lead and execute qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects to address key business questions relating to commercial products and/or pipeline stage products. Understanding the business need and designing a project which includes methodology selection
  • Support franchise marketing teams as a strategic business partner and member of the contributing teams
  • Act as an internal knowledge expert and strategic business partner, working collaboratively with franchise marketing teams as well as Global teams and cross-functional partners
  • Proactively communicate and facilitate discussion with marketing / commercial teams to ensure that insights are considered in decision-making and planning; integrate a variety of sources/studies to present strategic options to the extended team; provide consultative guidance to marketing / commercial team(s) around commercial insights to facilitate brand strategic planning cycle
  • Closely collaborate/partner with the Global Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, and Commercial Analytics & Data Strategy teams to inform the strategic assumptions that are built into short-term and long-term brand and portfolio plans
  • Work with Legal, Global Product Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Compliance and Data Protection to ensure all market research materials and contracts/vendors abide by CSL Behring policies
  • Collection of timely US competitive intelligence, with analysis of strategic and tactical inference for US Commercial Operations
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for key commercial and business insights, delivering material in a succinct and effective manner to better communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure market research projects are delivered within agreed upon timelines and budget
  • Manage vendors and develop strong ecosystem to support growing business needs
  • Has responsibility for oversight and effective management of all team members (i.e. direct reports) to include but not limited to the following:
    • Annual objective setting
    • Mid-year and end of year reviews
    • Coaching and counseling as appropriate
    • Employee development
    • Recruitment, selection and development of talent
    • Managing, directing & measuring work on an ongoing basis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business or science discipline; Master’s degree or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years' business operations or commercial experience including market research and analytics in healthcare, research and consulting firm, or pharmaceutical/biotech company
  • Experience of executing/leading qualitative/quantitative market research across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Experience in rare diseases as well as specialty products
  • Knowledge of relevant legal, compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Prior management and business operations experience preferred
