The Women's Health Service Line at Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health) has an exciting opportunity. We are seeking a full-time, Gynecologic Physician to work at our state-of-the-art Women’s Health & Wellness Center. The primary clinical responsibilities will be Midlife, Menopause, and Sexual Health management in direct partnership with our vibrant team of NAMS certified Advanced Practice Providers. Menopause affects everything from mood, sleep, body temperature, libido, weight and more. The short and long-term impact of the hormonal changes through midlife, the menopause transition, and postmenopausal years can span decades of a woman’s life. Understanding the whole picture and helping women successfully navigate these changes with personalized, high-quality, and evidence-based care is what our team of Midlife, Menopause & Sexual Heath experts do. We work alongside primary care providers, offering advanced support and specialized management that requires a focused and in-depth conversation with patients.

Our partnership with our patients includes management of:

  • Menopause-specific care
  • Wellness and aging gracefully
  • Midlife and premenopausal concerns
  • Dyspareunia and genitourinary syndrome of menopause
  • Abnormal uterine bleeding and postmenopausal bleeding
  • Sexual health concerns for women of all ages

This provider will join several other specialties, including Midlife & Menopause, Sexual Health, Urogynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, High Risk Breast, Preventive Cardiology, Bone Health, Nutrition, Psychotherapy, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, and Exercise Physiology. The site also includes mammography, ultrasound, and bone density imaging services. This office partners with a local spa service that performs acupuncture and massage on site. There are retail products for sale that allow patients to purchase items that are recommended as a part of their plan of care. The Women’s Health & Wellness Center has a unique space carved out to offer exercise classes, cooking classes, and other educational experiences for our patients and community. Our newly updated facilities allow for a peaceful patient experience and a Zen-like working environment. Grand Rapids, Michigan, the second-largest city in the state, is an urban community based in West Michigan, only 35 minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan. Requirements to be eligible upon hire:

  • Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG)

Preferred education within one year of hire (to be funded by hiring institution):

  • Obtain certification as National Certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) through the North American Menopause Society (NAMS)
  • Membership in International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH)
  • Continuing Education in Chronic Vulvar Conditions through International Society for the Study of Vulvar Disease (ISSVD)

Additional responsibilities of the role:

  • This position includes the expectation to perform both major and minor surgical management of midlife and menopause patients. There is an onsite surgical center as well as in office procedure capabilities. Major surgeries can be performed in the outpatient surgery center with a robust same day discharge program or at Butterworth hospital which is a Level 1 Trauma Center with associated resources.  All gynecologic subspecialties are available for patients including urogynecology, gynecologic oncology and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.  Surgical teaching of residents is expected.   
  • Call model frequency for this role will be determined at time of hire. Phone call and hospital based gyn coverage will be expected.

All Corewell Health Physicians are expected to:

  • Manage patients and coordinate the services provided by multiple disciplines within and outside the health system.
  • Maintain a collaborative practice agreement with specific physician(s).
  • Exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of selected protocols/procedures.
  • Provide educational support for patients/significant others, health team members and the community.
  • Coordinates QA/QI studies to measure outcomes of care.

Essential Functions
  • Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
  • Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
  • Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
  • Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
  • Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
  • Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
  • Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
  • Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.

    Actively works with Spectrum Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.

  • Required Bachelor's Degree
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
