This role will mostly be covering day shift hours.

Job Summary

Operates nuclear detection and imaging equipment and prepares radiopharmaceuticals for routine nuclear radiologic studies, to produce images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Completes work in an independent, professional manner with minimal supervision and assists in and facilitates employee development.

Essential Functions

  • Operates nuclear detection, imaging, and computer processing equipment for nuclear radiologic studies by following professional, hospital and regulatory protocols to provide physicians with diagnostic images utilized to identify and / or plan appropriate patient treatment.
  • Prepares and administers radioactive agents by adhering to established procedures for preparation of kits and intravenous (IV) injection of agents to ensure accurate diagnostic testing and/or imaging. Monitors and records radiation levels in hot lab, scan room, storage areas and patient rooms. Adheres to standards for radiation safety and for appropriate waste separation and disposal of radioactive agents by performing specific governmental mandates.
  • Maintains imaging, hot lab, radiopharmaceuticals and processing equipment by performing quality control tests and checking equipment performance and quality of agents administered in accordance with department and regulation standards to ensure patient safety. Contacts service personnel and notifies management of malfunctioning equipment. Fills out all forms thoroughly, completes all tasks in computerized medical record system and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) in a timely manner.

Qualifications
  • Required Associate's Degree Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience in nuclear medicine required
  • CRT-Nuc Med Technologist (N) - ARRT upon hire required Or
  • CRT-Nuclear Medicine Technologist - NMTCB upon hire required And

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA/ARC within 90 days required
