Job Summary

Under the direction of the Program Director, evaluates client's need for recreation therapy. Plans and executes treatment program in accordance with guidelines outlines by the NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification).

Essential Functions

  • Provide recreation therapy to enhance independence and community integration and teach leisure time activities in the home and the community.
  • Provide education to enhance recreation skills and attitudes.
  • Assess and treat the following areas cognition, social skills, emotional needs, leisure attitudes and barriers, spiritual well being, pre- and post-injury leisure interests and attitudes.
  • Attends team conferences for assigned clients to effectively report on client status and progress.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to peers, team members and client/family. Participates in quality improvement and program development activities.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Therapeutic Recreation
  • Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Therapeutic Recreation or related degree (Reed City RNC, Corewell Health South)
  • 3 years of relevant experience in long term care or rehabilitation Preferred
  • May work in homes, community, schools, job sites, and clinics; driving distances up to 60 miles from office (based on SH entity) Required
  • CRT-Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Certified (CTRS) - NCTRC National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification Reed City RNC only Upon Hire required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Activity Director, Certified (ADC) - NCCAP National Certification Council for Activity Professionals preferred
