GENERAL SUMMARY  

The Endoscopy Technician performs a variety of patient care activities by assisting with procedures, providing clean and functional instruments and maintaining inventory.  These duties are performed under the supervision of a clinical nurse.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES   

  • Cleaning/disinfecting of instruments, equipment and rooms.  Process equipment for sterilization and maintain equipment log. 
  • Preparation of Endoscopy room. 
  • Maintain appropriate stock in room. 
  • Assist physician with procedures.  Assist nurses with patient care and provide dignity, privacy and comfort to customer during procedure. 
  • Transport patients as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as directed by head nurse, such as doing vital signs. 
  • Provide highest quality of service delivered efficiently, effectively and compassionately as outline in our standards 100% of the time.

Education/Training:   

  • High School Diploma 

Work Experience:  

  • Endoscopy experience preferred 

Certification, Licensure, Registration

  • None 

Other Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of Endoscopy instruments and accessories, methods of sterilization/ disinfection, infection control and universal precautions.   
  • Advanced customer service sills.   
  • Ability to maintain privacy, confidentiality and dignity of patients.   
  • Ability to provide patients with clear explanations and adequate information regarding care and treatment.   
  • Ability to respond to patient’s request quickly providing a quiet, caring environment for recuperation.
