Part Time Evenings at Blodgett Hospital.

Blodgett hospital is located in beautiful East Grand Rapids, just a short commute from Kent county or any neighboring counties. Some of the benefits of working at Blodgett Laboratory are:

Job Summary

Provides clinical laboratory services in the department. Performance of clinical laboratory examinations, proficiency testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and other functions as required.

Essential Functions

  • Practices clinical laboratory science in the specialty of hematology, coagulation, chemistry, immunohematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and clinical microscopy in a skillful manner. This includes the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
  • Performs quality control, calibrations, and maintenance and solves problems related to testing systems as needed and documents corrective actions taken.
  • Maintains competency-validated proficiency on all procedures performed.
  • Maintains inventory, work area, and equipment in a manner that keeps the laboratory in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients and staff.
  • Assures compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
  • Required Associate's Degree Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
  • 6 months of relevant experience Currently enrolled in a CLS internship or certification eligible Preferred
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
  • Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
  • American Medical Technologist, Certified (AMT) - American Medical Technologists Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
  • Cytogenetic Technologist (CG) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
  • Molecular Biology Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
  • Technologist in Hematology (H) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Only applies to those hired on/after 7/1/2022. Must obtain professional certification within 1 year of Board of Certification eligibility 1 Year required Or
