Your new role

We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team in Newton Aycliffe on a two-year fixed-term contract.

During this two-year assignment, you will play an important role in ensuring the effective, efficient and accurate delivery of our Order-to-Cash and billing activities. You will take responsibility for raising invoices, allocating payments, monitoring outstanding balances and maintaining accurate customer and financial records.

This is a great opportunity to broaden your accounts receivable experience within an international, project-led organisation while working closely with colleagues across the wider Finance team.

Some key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Raise and issue customer invoices and credit notes
  • Verify sales invoice applications and create accurate sales invoices
  • Generate recharge and other invoices for Hitachi group companies
  • Monitor incoming payments and ensure they are allocated promptly and accurately
  • Review outstanding payments and support the resolution of payment queries
  • Produce and maintain aged debt reporting
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable mailbox and respond to queries
  • Create and maintain accurate customer master data
  • Scan, file and retain invoices and other financial documentation
  • Maintain complete and accurate records in line with company policies and accepted accounting practices
  • Provide ad hoc Accounts Payable support to the wider Finance team when required

About you

You will have previous experience within Accounts Receivable, credit control, billing or a related finance position. Ideally, you will have worked within a manufacturing, engineering or project-based organisation and will be comfortable managing a varied workload within a busy Finance team.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience of Accounts Receivable processes and practices
  • Experience within a manufacturing or project-based business
  • Strong attention to detail and a professional, reliable approach
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team
  • The ability to work from our Newton Aycliffe office

Knowledge of SAP or another ERP system would be advantageous, as would an understanding of Accounts Payable processes. Awareness of workplace health and safety, equal opportunities and corporate social responsibility policies would also be beneficial.

What we offer

We value the contribution of all our employees. If you join our fantastic organisation, you could be entitled to:

  • Competitive salary
  • Potential opportunity for an annual performance-related bonus
  • 25 days’ holiday
  • Pension scheme with contributions of up to 9%
  • Private medical insurance
