This role will play a key part in supporting complex customer projects, including data center and energy infrastructure projects, while fostering a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

You will work closely with project teams, engineers, business leaders, contractors, customers, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and continuously improve HSE performance across the organization.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs, policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Provide HSE leadership and guidance across project execution, service operations, and business activities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate workplace, operational, and environmental risks to prevent incidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental events, identifying root causes and driving effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct HSE audits, inspections, risk assessments, and site reviews to ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy standards, customer requirements, and local regulatory obligations.
  • Support project teams in the planning and execution of HSE activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Deliver HSE training, awareness programs, and coaching to employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor HSE performance metrics and prepare reports, analyses, and improvement recommendations for management.
  • Collaborate with customers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders on HSE-related matters.
  • Support and contribute to sustainability initiatives, environmental programs, and continuous improvement activities across the organization.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership, engagement, and visible commitment to HSE excellence.
  • Travel regularly to project sites within Malaysia, particularly Johor, to provide operational support, governance, and oversight.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment roles within project-based, industrial, energy, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, or related environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of HSE management systems, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and safety assessments.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive HSE improvements across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Willingness to travel across Malaysia as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting energy, power, electrical, infrastructure, or data center projects.
  • Exposure to sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Professional HSE certifications or relevant industry qualifications.
  • Experience engaging with customers, contractors, and regulatory authorities in project environments.
