Job Description

We are looking for a Logistics Program Lead to own the movement of material into and between the sites building Amazon's next generation robot.

You will own inbound freight execution and customs clearance for direct material flowing from suppliers across North America, Europe, and Asia into our Boston development center and into Factory 1 in Austin. Material is being committed inside standard lead time against a start-of-production date that does not move, which means a shipment sitting in customs review or a missed sailing is a line-down risk, not a reporting item.

This is an execution and mechanism role. You will own the inbound tracking and escalation process end-to-end, hold forwarders, brokers and third party logistics providers to committed dates, and scale the process from pilot volumes to production volumes as Factory 1 comes online.

Key job responsibilities
- Inbound Freight Execution: Own day-to-day inbound freight for direct material, including mode and routing decisions, carrier and forwarder booking, and confirmation of delivery dates against supply chain need dates. Escalate at-risk shipments before they affect the build plan, not after.
- Trade and Customs Ownership: Serve as the single point of contact to the Amazon Trade and Customs team for all program shipments. Drive every hold to a named owner and a committed release date within 24 hours. Own documentation accuracy at the purchase order level, including commercial invoices, HTS classification support, country of origin, and incoterms.
- Tracking Mechanism and Reporting: Build and own the inbound tracking mechanism covering shipment status, customs status, and landed date against need date. Publish on a daily cadence into the material readiness review with status, owner, and next action on every open line.
- Third Party Logistics and Broker Management: Manage forwarders, customs brokers and logistics providers on transit performance, cost, documentation accuracy and invoice validity. Run performance reviews and hold providers to service commitments.
- Receiving and Site Flow: Coordinate inbound flow with receiving and warehouse operations, including dock scheduling, delivery appointment control, and routing of receiving discrepancies to supply chain within 24 hours. Support yard and dock flow design as Factory 1 volumes ramp.
- Outbound and Inter-Site Moves: Execute outbound freight for prototype units, fixtures, and supplier owned tooling, including inter-site moves between development and production locations.
- Scale and Process Development: Develop standard operating procedures for inbound, customs and receiving that scale from pilot build through volume production. Identify where manual tracking breaks at volume and define the system requirement.
- Cost and Data Analysis: Analyze freight spend, landed cost, transit performance and customs cycle time. Extract the insight and recommend the action, including mode shift, consolidation and routing changes that reduce cost or recover schedule.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Global Procurement logistics, the Leo supply chain team, commodity managers, material program managers and site operations on freight program design, carrier selection and rate structures.

About the team

- 2+ years of experience with international inbound freight, including air and ocean

- Experience building and maintaining operational tracking and reporting in Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with import compliance, including HTS classification, country of origin, incoterms and duty structures
- Experience supporting a new product introduction or factory startup where volumes and need dates change weekly
- Experience in a manufacturing or hardware environment with part-level material tracking
- Experience resolving customs holds and detention or demurrage exposure with brokers and government agencies
- Experience with dock scheduling, receiving process design, or yard flow improvement
- Demonstrated freight cost or transit time reduction through routing, mode or consolidation changes
