Senior Associate – Payroll & Social Insurance Operations – People Advisory Services
The opportunity
As part of the EY Egypt Nearshore Payroll Operate team, you will support payroll, social insurance and client service delivery for assigned engagements. You will run recurring activities, support implementations and transitions, and maintain the controls needed for accurate, timely service, working closely with onshore, country, technology and client.
Your key responsibilities
• Execute recurring payroll activities in line with approved calendars, procedures and controls, from input validation and data loading through simulations, corrections, reconciliations and preparation of client approval packs.
• Prepare payroll registers, summaries, payslip packs, general-ledger outputs, bank-file support and statutory or social insurance reports, subject to the relevant review and approval process.
• Perform gross-to-net checks, prior-period and source-data comparisons, variance analysis and exception investigation; maintain complete checklists, evidence, issue logs and audit trails.
• Support payroll implementation and transition activities, including requirements documentation, data cleansing and mapping, testing, parallel runs, defect tracking, readiness evidence, handover and hypercare.
• Execute social insurance administration across assigned countries, including registration and deregistration support, employee updates, contribution and invoice reconciliation, payment-support preparation, portal tracking and follow-up of discrepancies under approved procedures.
• Coordinate standard operational queries with client, onshore, country and technology teams within the agreed communication model; escalate missing inputs, control failures, statutory questions, material variances and delivery risks promptly.
• Support service-delivery governance through accurate calendar updates, SLA and KPI data, issue and action tracking, meeting inputs and clear status reporting.
• Maintain process documentation and contribute to root-cause analysis, standardization, automation, cross-training and continuous improvement.
Skills and attributes for success
You are a detail-oriented payroll professional who combines accurate execution with responsive client service. You work comfortably with data, deadlines and documented controls, communicate clearly and take ownership of issues through resolution or timely escalation.
To qualify for the role
• At least 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll & social insurance operations or managed service delivery handling multiple payroll cycles are preferred.
• Good understanding of the payroll lifecycle, gross-to-net calculations, payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory outputs and social insurance processes.
• Ability to analyse payroll data, identify anomalies, explain variances and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation.
• Strong spreadsheet and payroll-system capability, attention to detail, confidentiality, English communication and disciplined deadline management.
• Ability to work across multiple clients, collaborate with onshore and nearshore teams, and escalate risks early.
Ideally, you’ll also have
• Experience supporting GCC or wider MENA payroll and social insurance activities.
• Fluency in Arabic and English to support communication with clients, employees and international stakeholders.
• Experience with payroll system, implementation, data migration, parallel runs, & authority portals.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
What we look for
A dependable and curious team member who delivers accurately, protects confidential information and helps improve the way work is performed. You should be able to balance multiple payroll calendars and client priorities while supporting a collaborative nearshore culture.
