We are looking for a smart, motivated, and results-oriented Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Finance Automation team. Our team strives to consistently evolve and anticipate emerging business needs that drive scale and efficiency for our customers and internal stakeholders. We build intelligent systems that help automate and streamline financial operations at Amazon's global scale. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering world-class software. Successful candidates for this position will be self-starters with strong problem-solving skills who love getting things done. Excellent communication skills and a desire to tackle complex problems that emerge from driving a large business at Amazon are also a must.

What You'll Do
Amazon Software Development Engineers recognize and adopt best practices in software engineering: design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment, and operations. They solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context. They build flexible systems without over-engineering and choose simple, straightforward solutions over more complex ones. They understand how operating systems work, perform, and scale.

Key job responsibilities
• Understand the business impact of your systems and demonstrate good judgment when making technical trade-offs between short-term business or operational needs and long-term technology needs
• Serve as a key influencer in team strategy, bringing perspective and providing context for current and future technology choices
• Make appropriate architectural trade-offs and take ownership of team architecture, providing system-wide design guidance
• Drive simplicity in design and engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality)
• Set engineering standards and, when confronted with differing viewpoints, find the best path forward and build consensus
• Actively recruit talent and help others grow by coaching and mentoring within your organization

About the team
Our team is part of Amazon's Finance Automation organization. We build intelligent platforms that enable automated workflows across financial operations, helping Amazon scale efficiently. We work on challenging problems at the intersection of machine learning, natural language understanding, and large-scale distributed systems. Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
