Job Description

Do you want to solve the hardest security challenges behind the world's most ambitious innovations? Join AWS as a Principal Security Solutions Architect and become the advisor that industry-leading organizations rely on to move faster and safer in the AI era, against a threat landscape that reinvents itself every day.

Our team is dedicated to the world's largest and most recognized enterprises - the organizations whose innovations define their industries - and you will be part of the group that supports them directly. The toughest, highest-stakes security problems are the ones standing between their boldest ideas and real-world impact, and that is where you come in. You turn security, risk, and compliance into an accelerator for innovation rather than a barrier to it, helping customers adopt AWS - including AI specific solutions - securely, modernize their security capabilities and practices, and help customers defend against emerging threats. You'll be the trusted advisor who owns multiple CISO relationships and earns a place on their speed dial, sitting shoulder to shoulder with the business and technology decision makers at these organizations to turn their hardest problems into outcomes that move their industry forward. Internally, you'll be recognized as a key thought leader and influence how AWS shapes its platform to meet the evolving needs of our customers - raising their security bar while enabling them to move faster and safer.

This role supports our largest customers in the telecommunications industry, so an interest in or exposure to that space is a welcome bonus, though it is the security and AI expertise you bring that matters most.

If you love solving hard problems, want your work to matter, and get energy from helping others succeed, this is a place to do the best work of your career.

Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Security Solutions Architect, you will:

- Serve as the trusted security advisor to the customers you support, owning relationships with CISOs and other senior business and technology decision makers
- Operate in ambiguous, first-of-their-kind situations where no established playbook exists, bringing clarity and creating the approach others will follow
- Decompose your customers' hardest security, risk, and compliance problems into clear architectures they can confidently implement
- Think big and drive security change at industry scale, shaping how entire sectors - not just individual customers - adopt and secure emerging technology
- Advise on securing AI workloads, from protecting sensitive data to safely adopting new generative and agentic capabilities
- Help customers stay ahead of a fast-changing threat landscape and strengthen their defenses against emerging threats
- Operate with a high degree of independence, setting your own direction and delivering strategic outcomes with minimal guidance
- Create reusable guidance, reference architectures, and best practices that scale your impact far beyond any single engagement
- Advocate for your customers by channeling their needs and emerging trends into the AWS services roadmap
- Establish thought leadership, inside AWS and publicly, through writing, speaking, and engagement with the broader security community

A day in the life
No two days look the same. One morning you might be deep in a working session with a customer's security architects, untangling a thorny compliance question that's been holding up a major launch. By the afternoon you're in front of a CISO, helping them think through how to safely adopt AI without slowing their teams down. In between, you're comparing notes with other security advisors, sharing a pattern you developed, and flagging a customer trend to the AWS service teams who can act on it. Some days you're writing or speaking; every day you're making security a little easier for the people who depend on it.

About the team
We are a team of security advisors to the world's largest and most recognized enterprises, and our mission is simple: make security the thing that helps our customers move faster and safer, not the thing that slows them down. We work alongside each other and with teams across AWS - service owners, account teams, and industry specialists - to solve problems no one has a playbook for yet. Our culture runs on trust, deep technical curiosity, and a bias for sharing what we learn so the whole organization gets better (raising the bar for all customers). We have each other's backs, we take real ownership of our customers' hardest challenges, and we care as much about building each other up as we do about the work itself.

Diverse Experiences
AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.

Inclusive Team Culture
AWS values curiosity and connection. Our employee-led and company-sponsored affinity groups promote inclusion and empower our people to take pride in what makes us unique. Our inclusion events foster stronger, more collaborative teams. Our continual innovation is fueled by the bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and passionate voices our teams bring to everything we do.

Mentorship & Career Growth
We’re continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth’s Best Employer. That’s why you’ll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.

Basic Qualifications:
