Job Description

At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.

We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go.

Join EY and help to build a better working world.

The opportunity

As an ESGS Manager within Supply Chain Services, you will manage the procurement-support components of EY South Africa’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) program. You will coordinate procurement, supplier development, performance reporting, verification evidence and stakeholder engagement to help advance approved BBBEE objectives.

You will serve as the primary ESGS coordination point for procurement-related BBBEE activities. The role supports the broader enterprise program but does not own scorecard components managed by Talent, Finance, Legal, Risk or other functions.

Your key responsibilities

  • Program management and governance
    • Manage the BBBEE procurement-support plan, milestones, risks and escalations.
    • Coordinate procurement inputs and track progress against approved objectives.
    • Maintain effective controls, documentation and cross-functional governance.
  • Preferential procurement and supplier transformation
    • Embed BBBEE considerations across sourcing and supplier-management processes.
    • Analyze spend, supplier status and opportunities with qualifying suppliers.
    • Develop targeted actions with category and business stakeholders to close gaps.
  • Enterprise and supplier development
    • Support development initiatives for qualifying South African businesses.
    • Connect suitable suppliers with relevant development and commercial opportunities.
    • Track participation, outcomes, evidence and external relationships.
  • Measurement, verification and reporting
    • Coordinate procurement readiness and evidence for annual BBBEE verification.
    • Validate spend, supplier data and documentation with relevant teams.
    • Report performance, address evidence gaps and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Stakeholder engagement
    • Build strong relationships across business and functional teams.
    • Translate BBBEE requirements into practical actions and guidance.
    • Facilitate governance reviews and escalate key risks.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong working knowledge of South Africa’s BBBEE framework and applicable Codes of Good Practice.
  • Sound procurement, preferential procurement and supplier-development knowledge.
  • Strong program-management, governance and organization skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and convert it into clear management insights.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and levels of seniority.
  • Clear written, verbal and executive communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment and commitment to data quality.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, procurement, finance, sustainability or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience supporting BBBEE programs, scorecards, verification processes or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in procurement, supplier development, ESG, transformation or a related field.
  • Experience with supplier-spend analysis and BBBEE evidence requirements.
  • Demonstrated project or program-management capability.
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • BBBEE experience in a large corporate or professional-services environment.
  • Experience working with BBBEE verification professionals.
  • Experience supporting Enterprise and Supplier Development initiatives.
  • Understanding of category management and supplier lifecycle processes.
  • Advanced Excel and data-visualization or reporting capability.
  • Experience establishing dashboards, controls and evidence repositories.

What we look for

We are looking for a commercially minded and collaborative professional who can connect BBBEE requirements with procurement execution, supplier development, data and governance. You will be expected to manage competing priorities, build trusted relationships and provide leadership with clear visibility of performance, opportunities and risk.

Measures of success

  • Delivery of agreed procurement-support milestones and actions.
  • Quality, completeness and readiness of procurement verification evidence
  • Accurate and timely reporting of supplier and spend data.
  • Progress against approved preferential procurement and supplier-development objectives.
  • Timely identification and escalation of risks and gaps.
  • Effective integration of BBBEE requirements into relevant sourcing and supplier-management processes.
  • Strong engagement with South Africa business and functional stakeholders.
