About the Role

As our Area Driver Trainer, you are the ultimate champion of driver safety, onboarding quality, and field readiness across the region. You aren’t just running training sessions—you are setting the benchmark for how our commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operators learn, drive, and succeed.

In this role, you’ll lead driver training governance, mentor local trainers, conduct final driver certifications, and partner with safety leaders on incident investigations. If you're passionate about coaching, upholding high safety standards, and ensuring every driver hits the road with confidence, this is the leadership position for you.

What You'll Do:

Lead Regional Training & Governance: Oversee on average 75-100 drivers onboarding curriculum and manual across departments, evaluate local trainers, and audit weekly logs and pre-arrival preparations before submitting to the Director of Safety.

  • Curriculum Management & Trainer Leadership: Direct the regional rollout of the Driver Training Curriculum and Safety Manual, while selecting, onboarding, evaluating, and auditing local Driver Trainers to ensure standardized, high-quality instruction.

  • Safety Protocol Enforcement & Technical Instruction: Coach and enforce core safety standards (Smith System, G.O.A.L., backing protocols, speed limits, E-Logs) and conduct hands-on evaluations for critical operational skills, including trailer scaling, cylinder handling, and pre-arrival readiness checks.

  • Driver Certification, Retraining & Retention: Lead final field check-rides and exercise joint authority with leadership to approve driver certifications, delivering targeted retraining and documentation to address skill gaps and support driver retention.

  • DOT Compliance & Incident Management: Partner with Area Safety Managers on accident investigations, conduct spot truck and onboard computer audits, correct shipping paper errors, and lead DOT roadside inspection prep as a regulatory liaison.
