Job Description

The opportunity

At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you.

We are looking for a Payroll Data, Reporting & Automation Analyst to join our Payroll Shared Service Center in Portugal, supporting our French Payroll operations.

In this role, you will work closely with Payroll, Project and Management teams based in France, supporting payroll operations through data analysis, reporting, operational controls and automation.

This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong analytical capabilities, advanced Microsoft Excel skills and fluency in French with an interest in process improvement and automation. You will contribute not only to the accuracy and efficiency of payroll-related activities, but also to the development of smarter and more automated ways of working.

Working in an international environment, you will collaborate regularly with colleagues in France and contribute to the continuous improvement and digital transformation of payroll operations.

Your key responsibilities

As a Payroll Data, Reporting & Automation Analyst, you will:

  • Support French Payroll teams with data extraction, validation, analysis and reporting activities;
  • Prepare control, reconciliation and analysis files to support payroll production;
  • Perform data quality and consistency checks, identifying anomalies and supporting their investigation and resolution;
  • Produce operational reports and dashboards to support payroll teams and management;
  • Analyse payroll-related data, identifying trends, inconsistencies and potential operational risks;
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based tools and automation solutions, including VBA macros;
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive activities and reduce manual workload;
  • Contribute to the improvement and optimization of existing reporting and analytical tools;
  • Support continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives within Payroll;
  • Contribute to the standardization and documentation of processes and working methodologies;
  • Collaborate with teams based in France and participate in meetings conducted in both French and English;
  • Support the achievement of service quality, accuracy and delivery objectives.

Skills and attributes for success

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, Power Query, advanced formulas and reporting/dashboard functionalities;
  • Knowledge of VBA and Excel automation;
  • Ability to work with and analyse large datasets;
  • Strong attention to detail, data quality and accuracy;
  • A proactive and continuous improvement mindset;
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process optimization and automation;
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines effectively;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in an international environment;
  • A client and stakeholder-oriented mindset.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or another relevant field;
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in data analysis, reporting, finance, HR, payroll or other relevant operational activities;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • French at C1 level or above, with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken French in a professional environment;
  • English at B2 level or above;
  • Ability to work effectively with international and remote teams.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience developing VBA macros or other automation solutions;
  • Experience with Power Query and data transformation;
  • Previous experience in a Shared Service Center or international service delivery environment;
  • Experience supporting offshore or nearshore operations;
  • Knowledge or previous exposure to payroll processes;
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration tools;
  • Portuguese language skills, although these are not mandatory.

What we look for

We are looking for someone who is analytical, curious and detail-oriented, but who also enjoys challenging existing ways of working and finding opportunities to make processes more efficient.

You should be comfortable working with data, investigating inconsistencies and translating operational needs into practical reporting or automation solutions.

As you will work closely with teams based in France, strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships in a remote and international environment will be particularly important.

Above all, we are looking for someone who combines data and technical capabilities with a strong service mindset, and who is motivated to contribute to the continuous improvement and digitalization of Payroll operations.
