EY helps utilities organizations transform their operations through innovative SAP solutions that improve efficiency, enhance customer experiences, and support regulatory compliance. We work with clients across the utility value chain, helping them navigate complex business and technology transformations from strategy through execution.
We are seeking an SAP IS-U FI-CA Functional Manager to lead the end-to-end design and delivery of SAP Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA) solutions. In this role, you will own the FI-CA workstream, define the functional approach, align receivables and payment operations with business policies and accounting requirements, and ensure integration across the broader SAP IS-U solution. You will lead functional teams and collaborate with Finance, Revenue Operations, Customer Care, technical, integration, and program stakeholders to drive solution quality, financial controls, testing, deployment, and operational readiness.
Your key responsibilities
As a Manager in Technology Analysis, you will lead SAP IS-U FI-CA workstreams within complex utility transformation programs, providing functional leadership from solution design through deployment and stabilization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning the SAP IS-U FI-CA workstream, including scope, target processes, solution decisions, delivery plans, quality, risks, and outcomes from requirements and blueprint through deployment and post-go-live stabilization.
- Defining and governing the functional design for receivables, payments, clearing, collections, dunning, refunds, deposits, write-offs, and related financial controls.
- Leading requirements gathering, fit-gap assessments, solution workshops, and design reviews to translate Finance, Revenue Operations, Customer Care, and business requirements into scalable and maintainable FI-CA solutions.
- Driving integration and reconciliation design across SAP IS-U Billing, Customer Service, Retail Choice, banks and payment providers, collection agencies, tax solutions, and SAP FI/CO General Ledger.
- Establishing and governing FI-CA financial controls, posting and reconciliation processes, ensuring solutions support auditability and approved business and accounting requirements.
- Managing cross-workstream dependencies with Billing, Customer Service, Finance, Retail Choice, Data Conversion, and other business and technology workstreams to ensure alignment across end-to-end utility processes.
- Developing and overseeing functional specifications, solution documentation, configuration standards, and design decisions to ensure consistency and quality across the FI-CA workstream.
- Leading and coaching FI-CA functional consultants, coordinating technical and integration partners, establishing clear ownership, and driving timely resolution of functional and cross-workstream issues.
- Overseeing end-to-end testing and defect resolution for payments, clearing, collections, financial postings, period close, reconciliation, integrations, exceptions, and high-volume processing.
- Managing workstream scope, estimates, dependencies, risks, defect priorities, stakeholder decisions, and escalations while clearly communicating options and impacts to program and business leadership.
- Leading cutover and support transition activities, including open-item and balance reconciliation, procedures, training, production readiness, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Building trusted relationships with client stakeholders and providing functional guidance on SAP IS-U FI-CA capabilities, financial-process design, controls, solution decisions, and transformation priorities.
Skills and attributes for success
To thrive in this role, you will need a blend of technical and interpersonal skills. Your ability to build relationships and communicate effectively will be crucial in delivering exceptional client service.
- Deep functional knowledge of SAP IS-U FI-CA and related utility financial and customer-account processes.
- Strong understanding of receivables, payments, clearing, collections, dunning, refunds, deposits, write-offs, financial posting, reconciliation, and controls.
- Ability to translate complex financial, accounting, customer-account, and operational requirements into scalable SAP FI-CA functional designs.
- Proven ability to lead complex SAP transformation initiatives and client-facing engagements.
- Strong understanding of FI-CA integration with SAP IS-U Billing, Customer Service, Retail Choice, banking and payment solutions, collection agencies, tax solutions, and FI/CO General Ledger.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage dependencies across business, functional, technical, integration, and vendor workstreams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex solution and financial-process decisions to both business and technology stakeholders.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree.
- Typically, no less than 4 to 6 years of SAP IS-U or SAP Utilities experience, including substantial expertise in FI-CA or a related utility financial functional area, with 3+ years leading a functional workstream or team.
- Proven experience owning SAP IS-U FI-CA functional solution design and delivery through implementation, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
- Experience designing and delivering FI-CA solutions across payments, receivables, clearing, collections, dunning, refunds, deposits, write-offs, financial integration, and reconciliation.
- Experience leading Finance and business workshops, requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, design governance, functional design, testing, defect resolution, cutover, and operational readiness.
- Experience governing cross-functional integrations and reconciliation across SAP IS-U Billing, Customer Service, financial systems, banking and payment processes, and FI/CO General Ledger.
- Experience overseeing testing and readiness for payment, clearing, collections, posting, period close, reconciliation, and high-volume FI-CA processing.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, managing dependencies and risks, and driving decisions with business and technology stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to balance business outcomes, solution quality, financial controls, delivery constraints, and operational readiness.
