Job Description

Important — Site Location & Commuting: This role is based at a data center facility in a remote location with no public transportation access. A valid driving license and access to personal transportation are required to commute to the site daily. Please consider this before applying.

Ever wanted to help design and support the data centers that power the world's largest cloud? As a DC Infra Engineer Intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will work alongside an experienced, cross-disciplinary team to provide full life-cycle support to AWS data centers — from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. Your work will directly impact millions of customers worldwide.

Each day, you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will help prioritize activities that support data center capacity, availability, and safety, focusing on the actions that are most impactful — and you will have the opportunity to work on projects both locally and globally. If this sounds exciting to you, come build the future with us!

This internship is designed as a potential pathway to full-time employment. Interns who demonstrate strong performance throughout their internship may be considered for a full-time engineering position, subject to available roles and business needs.

Who Should Apply

We welcome applications from:
- Students in the last year of their Bachelor's or Master's degree (graduating 2027) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline, who are looking for an internship that could lead to a full-time career.

About the Role

As an intern, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to provide full life-cycle support to AWS data centers, from design through operation. With guidance from experienced engineers, you will build your subject matter expertise and serve as an engineering resource for your region, applying what you learn to real technical challenges.

You will be exposed to both independent work and team-based collaboration. Prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.

What You Will Do – Are these job responsibilities accurate for the internship?
- Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for new data centers in your region
- Troubleshoot issues, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site and equipment failures
- Support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews (including for critical equipment), and event support
- Collaborate with the internal data center design engineering team, server hardware team, and environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions

Internship Structure

Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours per week) for 12 consecutive weeks, starting 2027. This position requires the intern to report to work on site daily. Intern schedules are typically day schedules, Monday to Friday.

Please note that full-time engineering roles may operate on a rotating shift pattern, which could include days, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as well as on-call rotations. Candidates should be willing and able to commit to shift work upon transitioning to a full-time position.
Diverse Experiences

AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed below, we encourage you to apply. If your career is just starting, has not followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, do not let that stop you from applying.

Your Career at Amazon — A Universe of Opportunity

At Amazon, your career is not a straight path. It is a journey you build as you go.

From your first day as an intern, you will own real work that matters. You will help design, troubleshoot, and support the infrastructure that keeps AWS running for millions of customers. Your mentors and teammates will champion your growth, helping you build skills you did not know existed — and you will see your work come to life at massive scale.
- Impact. Your work shapes the infrastructure that millions of customers rely on every day. From cloud computing to artificial intelligence, the systems you help support power it all.
- Action. You will move fast, experiment, and learn by doing. Your ideas do not get stuck in approval chains — they get tested, refined, and put into practice.
- Curiosity. Every project teaches you something new. You will apply what you learned in the classroom to real challenges and explore different teams, technologies, and career paths within Amazon.
- Mentorship and career growth. You will start with structured onboarding and get paired with experienced mentors. Beyond that, you will find continuous learning opportunities and the chance to work on different projects. Your journey here is yours to shape.
