Software Developer – Warehouse Automation & Integrations

Role Overview

We are looking for a Software Developer to join the team responsible for our warehouse control system and automation platform.

In this role, you will develop integrations connecting warehouse control systems, material handling equipment, robotics platforms, PLC-controlled automation, and enterprise applications. You will work closely with architects, automation specialists, software engineers, and operational stakeholders to deliver solutions that power highly automated logistics operations.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of software development combined with a genuine interest in warehouse automation, industrial control systems, and operational technology.

As we continue evolving MCS from a project-based solution towards a scalable platform, this role will help drive standardisation, configuration-driven delivery, and reusable integration capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations using Java and event-driven architectures.
  • Integrate warehouse automation equipment, PLC-controlled systems, robotics platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand operational workflows and integration requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Java/Camel based communication and messaging solutions.
  • Support customer implementations, integration testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot complex communication, networking, and system integration issues.
  • Contribute to the development of a configuration-driven warehouse control platform.
  • Collaborate with architects and senior engineers to define reusable integration patterns and standards.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
  • Work with Site Reliability Engineering and Platform Engineering teams to improve observability, deployment processes, and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to future warehouse automation capabilities including orchestration, control systems, and intelligent automation solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience developing software using Java.
  • Experience with software integrations, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, ports, routing, and firewalls.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team.
  • Strong communication skills and fluent English.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly Desired

  • Experience with warehouse automation systems.
  • Experience integrating with conveyors, sorters, AMRs, ASRS, shuttles, robotics systems, or warehouse control systems.
  • Understanding of industrial control systems and PLC-based automation environments.
  • Experience with communication between WCS, WMS, PLCs, and operational technology systems.

Additionally Beneficial

  • Experience with Docker and container-based deployments.
  • Experience working with cloud-native platforms.
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices.
  • Interest in AI-assisted development and automation.

Why Join Us

You will work on technology that directly controls and orchestrates real-world warehouse automation systems including conveyors, automated vehicles, robotics, and industrial control equipment. The role offers a unique opportunity to combine modern software engineering with operational technology and warehouse automation, helping shape the future of large-scale logistics solutions.
