Job Description
Do you want to leverage strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and cross-functional influence to shape the future of Amazon's transportation network?
Transportation Technology and Services (TTS) is a critical function powering Amazon's logistics backbone, building and scaling the technology, infrastructure, and operational capabilities that enable fast, reliable delivery to hundreds of millions of customers worldwide. Our finance team serves as a strategic partner to this rapidly evolving organization, driving the financial rigor behind decisions that impact network design, technology investments, and operational efficiency at massive scale.
TTS FP&A seeks a Finance Manager to join our team, partnering directly with senior business and finance leaders to own strategic financial planning and drive decision-making across the organization. You will have extensive cross-functional partnership opportunities with leaders spanning engineering, operations, product, and program management to solve high-visibility, high-impact, unstructured problems as we scale our transportation technology portfolio. Your ability to deliver meaningful financial leadership through ambiguity and operate with a high degree of critical thinking will position you as a trusted finance partner influencing the strategic direction of TTS.
Success in this role requires you to lead and influence business owners, maintain a high degree of integrity, respectively audit and challenge business model assumptions, and adapt to a rapidly evolving environment. You will own the financial strategy behind TTS's operating expenditures and technology entitlements and hold yourself and your partners accountable for ensuring data-driven decisions are best for Amazon. You bring best-in-class business partnership, financial expertise, and high judgment not only in the execution of your work but also while advocating strong controllership within your team and across stakeholders. You are comfortable leading strategic discussions, communicating insights to senior leadership, and presenting financial narratives during business reviews. You think two steps ahead, prioritize building scalable processes the right way, and appreciate rigor in process as much as excellence in execution
Key job responsibilities
Partner with senior business leaders to provide strategic financial guidance, build analytical frameworks for new initiatives, and assess return on investment for technology and infrastructure opportunities across TTS.
Own core financial processes including month-end close, annual operating plans, long-range strategic planning, and OP1/OP2 cycles while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal and external policies.
Dive deep to build complex analyses, models, and narratives with broad scope that deliver measurable results and directly influence strategic direction for the organization.
Identify and implement large-scale financial solutions to proactively improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes, driving automation and standardization across the FP&A function.
Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable business narratives for senior leadership, effectively challenging assumptions and providing sound recommendations that shape investment decisions.
Manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment, operating as the primary finance stakeholder in high-visibility decisions impacting TTS's technology investments and operational spend.
Mentor and elevate the financial capabilities of peers and cross-functional partners by establishing best practices, sharing analytical frameworks, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
A day in the life
Your day begins reviewing key financial metrics and preparing for a business review with TTS leadership to discuss operational performance, investment trade-offs, and planning assumptions. Throughout the day, you work on deep-dive analyses addressing high-priority business questions, partner with engineering and product leaders to align on financial implications of technology roadmaps, and drive improved planning and control mechanisms across the organization. You participate in strategic planning sessions where your financial expertise directly shapes investment decisions, and you spend time collaborating with peers on analytical best practices to ensure the team delivers best-in-class financial partnership to our stakeholders.
