Job Description:

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is inviting a continuous improvement champion to join the South Boston Power Transformers Factory as an Integrated Transformer Management (ITM) System Specialist. This role sits at the heart of how we operate, improve, and grow as a factory and as a business. The ITM System is our global Lean management framework, guiding how value is created, how teams collaborate, and how results are achieved across the value chain.

In this role, you will help shape sustainable and transformational change by strengthening ITM System maturity, advancing process excellence, and driving measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost. Working closely with the Factory ITM System Leader and cross-functional teams, you will influence how strategy turns into action through daily management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement practices.

This is an opportunity to build deep expertise in Lean systems, develop leadership and coaching skills, and become a trusted partner to the factory leadership team. You will be empowered to lead Kaizen events, coach teams, and bring innovative ideas to life in a collaborative manufacturing environment where learning and improvement are part of everyday work. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Partner with factory leadership to deploy the ITM System.
  • Support strategy deployment and Lean daily management routines.
  • Act as a change agent for continuous improvement and waste elimination.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events and process excellence initiatives.
  • Drive KPI improvements across safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.
  • Own and lead cost-out projects and coach others in execution.
  • Train and coach teams in ITM System tools and methods.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, integrity, and accountability.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business.
  • 2+ years of experience in Lean, continuous improvement, or manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to established Lean systems is an advantage.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certifications are valued.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver results.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.

  • Hitachi Energy brings purpose-driven work that helps power a more sustainable future.
  • You will grow through global best practices, hands-on learning, and career development opportunities.
  • Our culture values safety, inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning.
