Job Description

Amazon is looking for a Senior Supply Chain Manager to lead First Mile network planning in Japan. This leader will shape how sorting and transportation capacity scale to support a fast-growing business and a reliable customer experience.
You will develop long-term network and capacity plans that connect First Mile sorting with Inbound and return flows. You will turn complex data into clear decisions, create scalable mechanisms, and lead cross-functional execution across planning, procurement, operations, and technology.

Key job responsibilities
• Own the multi-year strategy for First Mile sorting and transportation capacity across Japan.
• Develop integrated network plans that improve capacity, service, and efficiency across First Mile, Inbound, and return flows.
• Model network scenarios, demand growth, capacity constraints, and operational trade-offs to guide investment and planning decisions.
• Define separate Business as Usual and Peak capacity plans, including operating assumptions, risk mitigation, and contingency actions.
• Create scalable planning mechanisms, performance metrics, and review cadences that link long-term design with daily execution.
• Lead cross-functional programs with transportation procurement, operations, technology, finance, and fulfillment teams.
• Influence senior leaders through clear written narratives, data-backed recommendations, and well-managed trade-offs.
• Lead pilots, measure outcomes, and scale network and capacity improvements across the business.

A day in the life
You will balance long-term network design with current business needs. A typical day includes analyzing demand and capacity data, leading planning reviews, and aligning decisions with operations and procurement partners. You will resolve cross-functional trade-offs, communicate recommendations to leaders, and build mechanisms that make future decisions faster and more consistent.

About the team
The Inbound and MM Topology team designs scalable supply chain networks for Amazon's Japan business. We solve complex transportation and capacity problems with data, customer thinking, and practical operations knowledge. We value ownership, strong judgment, and respectful debate. Our leaders turn ambiguous business problems into simple mechanisms that improve customer experience and business performance.

Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Business-level Japanese language proficiency in reading, writing, and meetings
- Business-level English language proficiency in reading, writing, and meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Experience in Supply Chain Management
