Job Description
Amazon's Tax Planning & Restructures organization is seeking a Solutions Architect to join its technology enablement team. This is an embedded, forward-deployed builder role for someone who can deeply understand tax planning work and turn that understanding into practical technology solutions. This role will work closely with tax professionals to identify workflow pain points, design better processes, and build tools that improve speed, quality, visibility, and control. The ideal candidate has direct tax experience, strong technical instincts, and the ability to use modern development tools to move quickly from ambiguous business problems to working solutions.
Key job responsibilities
Own the end-to-end creation of automation solutions from discovery through design, build, deployment, testing, and adoption and maintenance, including:
- Designing UI/UX frontends and workflows
- Scripting business logic
- Provisioning AWS resources
- Setting up data pipelines and ETLs
- Running integration testing and UAT
- Monitoring usage and operational excellence metrics
Gain an inside-out understanding of tax planning workflows, dependencies, key inputs and the needs/challenges of tax planning professionals.
Train and mentor tax professionals on new tech tools and best practices.
Collaborate with FinTech, IT, and other technology partners on larger initiatives, translating Tax's needs into clear requirements and helping ensure delivered solutions fit tax planning workflows.
Help define the roadmap and technology landscape for the Tax Planning & Restructures organization.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AWS services
- 4+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Direct tax experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm, with exposure to compliance, planning, provision, restructurings, or related workflows for large multinational or technology companies. CPA, JD, or LLM is a plus.
- Experience using programming and query languages to automate tax processes, such as Python, SQL, or Power Query.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
