Job Description

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is to leverage Amazon Leo and provide high-speed, low-latency, and secure satellite broadband services to United States and allied government customers.
The Sr. Manager, US Federal Civilian will build and lead the sales team responsible for business growth among U.S. Government customers with unique requirements, specifically federal civilian government agencies (e.g., Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Department of Commerce, Department of the Interior, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, etc.). As Sr. Manager, you will own the strategy and go-to-market plan for this key group of customers and deliver business outcomes through the team you lead — driving rapid integration and adoption of Amazon Leo broadband and space connectivity services across the federal civilian portfolio.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales leader who is passionate about building teams, developing talent, and delivering results through others. You will hire and develop a team of sales executives, set the vision and strategy for the US Federal Civilian business, and represent that business to senior Amazon Leo for Government leadership. You will operate where the problem, opportunity, and strategy are not yet fully defined, using significant expertise and high judgment to design the right team structure and mechanisms to meet long-term business goals.

Key job responsibilities
• Build, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of sales executives covering the US Federal civilian sector; set clear performance expectations and provide coaching, feedback, and career development.
• Set the vision, strategy, tenets, and goals for the US Federal Civilian sales team, and align the team to deliver business growth against them.
• Grow the US Federal civilian book of business through the team, enabling them to define, identify, pursue, and close key opportunities at a rapid rate.
• Establish and sustain trusted executive relationships with key federal civilian customers at all levels, and coach the team to do the same.
• Lead complex strategic initiatives (3+ years) and deliver results through cross-matrixed teams; delegate appropriately and decide when to make the case for additional resourcing.
• Develop strategic partnership opportunities to achieve growth.
• Provide oversight and guidance on complex contract negotiations and complex business requirements and activities that deliver results.
• Think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges; build and convey compelling value propositions and work cross-organizationally.
• Own the team’s inputs to the annual and long-range planning process (e.g., OP1/OP2), including headcount, forecasting, and workforce planning; build succession plans for the organization.
• Communicate significantly complex decisions, trade-offs, results, and financial modeling succinctly, both verbally and in writing, to customers, stakeholders, and senior Amazon leadership.
• Proactively identify gaps and opportunities, mitigate risks before they become roadblocks, and create scalable, long-term mechanisms for the team.
• Deliver excellent written and verbal communications, and create a self-reinforcing, inclusive team culture grounded in Amazon’s Leadership Principles.
