Cloud Security Engineer – Leidos Corporate Cyber team – Melbourne/Remote

This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and hold minimum a Baseline, with the ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.

About the team

Our Corporate Cyber Security team plays a critical role in protecting Leidos' global enterprise environment, ensuring the security of cloud platforms, collaboration technologies, business applications and corporate data.

The Opportunity 

This role will focus on securing enterprise cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and AWS. Working alongside global cyber security, infrastructure and cloud engineering teams, you will help design, implement and operate security capabilities that protect Leidos' worldwide enterprise environment.

In this role you will:

• Design, build and deploy cloud security capabilities that protect Leidos cloud-based systems, networks and information assets.

• Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) across cloud security services and technologies.

• Provide guidance on cloud security architectures, shared responsibility models and cloud provider security capabilities.

• Partner with global cloud engineering, infrastructure and cyber security teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

• Work closely with Microsoft 365, Azure and AWS platform teams to continuously enhance security controls and capabilities.

• Support operational cloud security services, ensuring they remain effective, compliant and aligned to business needs.

• Collaborate with Security Operations and Incident Response teams to support investigations, threat detection and remediation activities.

• Develop technical documentation including solution designs, implementation guides, standards and operational procedures.

• Identify opportunities to automate security processes and improve operational efficiency.

• Contribute to cloud security roadmaps and strategic initiatives that strengthen Leidos' cyber security posture globally.

About you:

We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.

Essentials for this role:

• 5+ years' experience in Cyber Security, Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or a related technical discipline.

• Experience implementing, supporting and monitoring enterprise cloud security technologies across Azure, AWS or other major cloud platforms.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security services, cloud-native security controls and shared responsibility models.

• Experience with identity and access management technologies including Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory and Okta.

• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls and secure network design.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Advantageous, but not essential:

• Experience with Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Entra ID governance, Conditional Access and MFA.

• Knowledge of CASB, cloud governance, logging, monitoring and enterprise-scale cloud security architecture.

• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code, scripting or automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell or Python.

• Experience across multi-cloud environments including Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.

• Relevant certifications such as Azure Security Engineer, Cybersecurity Architect, AWS Security Specialty, CCSP or CISSP are highly regarded.
