Collins Aerospace Sensors Systems is seeking a Principal Project Lead to lead electronics obsolescence activities across the business. This position will be part of our Analysis & Test group at Collins in Burnsville, MN.   The Analysis & Test group is comprised of several analysts, subject matter experts, test engineers, and test technicians; all of which are located within Burnsville.  Our team primarily supports research, development, qualification, and continuation of all parts manufactured within the value streams in Burnsville.

This is a highly visible role where you will be interfacing with all Burnsville Value Streams, Procurement and Finance. If you love working with data and are detail driven, have a background as a either Program coordinator or Analyst and interfacing across multi-disciplines, this could be the opportunity for you.

In this role, the Principal Project Lead will drive action across a team of electronics engineers, procurement, and finance functions for all products.  You will have direct responsibility for technical leadership activities associated with obsolete electronic material, including reporting of metrics on Last Time Buy activities, various program activities such as Management Authorized Materials (MAM) documentation, risk and opportunity management, and the capture/closure of action items.

The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders to ensure project success. 

This is an Onsite role at our Burnsville, MN facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain functions to mitigate impacted materials.
  • Prepare MAM templates, solicit cross-discipline feedback, and perform consumption analyses for obsolete materials across product lines.
  • Liaise between design engineers, Value Stream leaders, procurement, and finance to procure obsolete materials.
  • Conduct meetings and present progress reports relating to business aspects of the project.
  • Record and document delays, changes in scope, and any other incidents that impact the scope of work or schedule to ensure smooth execution.
  • Direct all phases of the project from inception through completion.
  • Confidently provide clear, concise communications with peers and Collins leadership.
  • Prior work experience with multi-tasking and performing in a dynamic, fast paced, changing environment.
  • Prior work experience collaborating across an organization and operate effectively within a matrix environment by resolving conflict and influencing others.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Typically requires: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required  

U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronics Knowledge and/or Component Engineering experience
  • Progressive technical and leadership responsibility on electronic development
  • Experience with MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
