Summary:

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer - Black Belt  located in Holt, MI to lead training, deployment, and execution of lean initiatives and structured root cause identification and elimination.

The Process Improvement Engineer - Black Belt will be responsible for assisting the CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) Manager in developing a vision, strategy, roadmap, and supporting infrastructure for the integration of data driven decision making and Lean/Six-Sigma methods into daily business practices across operations, engineering, quality and business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) Manager in ongoing completion of their assigned tasks and priorities; serve as key resource for OpX (Operational Excellence) initiative deployment, including CORE competency & Standard Production System (SPS).

  • Assist in driving a culture of continuous improvement and connecting all employees with experiences to make our business better; develop the organization’s employees in variation reduction & process control proficiency by coaching, mentoring and coordinate execution of required training – Green Belts, Black Belts, Master Black Belts & Champions

  • Work with senior management project champions and Master Black Belts to: support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities & ACE/CORE initiatives -and schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure sign off on Formal Gate reviews. Use scorecards and metrics to ensure progress

  • Ensure technical quality of variation reduction and process control projects Identify gaps in project execution and engage appropriate resources to address either knowledge gaps or execution gaps to ensure projects deliver intended results

  • Represent the organization in various forums related to Process Certification/Six Sigma approaches. Develop standard work, procedures and integrate industry-standard best practices; communicate lessons learned to other operational organizations for read across implementation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years' experience in a manufacturing environment or other industrial group with similar manufacturing processes or a Master's Degree and 5 or more years' experience in a manufacturing environment or other industrial group with similar manufacturing processes

  • Must possess a recognized Six Sigma Black Belt certification

  • Travel required up to 30%, including international

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering preferred

  • ProCert/Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience; understanding of other continuous improvement skills: DFSS (Design for Six SIgma), Red-X, Lean, etc.

  • ACE/CORE/Six Sigma Master/expert level certification

  • Experience leading and managing a large portfolio of cross-functional projects

  • Knowledge of MS Office, Minitab and other statistical software

  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE & multi-variate statistics
